Mustang Survival

I joined Mustang Survival after seeing the office and factory first hand. It was a rad place where people could be themselves and work towards a common good. I love seeing locally made products, all of the testing that goes into it, and the activities the brand supports like sailing, paddling, and fishing are all things I enjoy in my spare time anyways. It's a great culture of makers and people who want to do the right thing.

There are of course, massive changes as Mustang gets more recreational focused, and that brings some pain with it, but most people believe in the end goal and as long as the team pushes and pulls together, it will achieve it's goals. 

It's also been fun to be on a winning team, and the monthly town hall meetings where we review numbers, goals, and progress measurements have shown huge improvements and good success. When you are winning, it makes working life easier.

A typical day was exciting!  I did everything from client service, to data entry to promotions, to trade shows.

What I learned - I had ambition and commitment and went up the corporate ladder very quickly.

Management - great!

Co-workers - great!

Hardest part of the job - I had no work/life balance.  I committed all my time to working and doing a great job.  

The most enjoyable part.  The variety.  It was one of those companies you could try on different hats and see where you went with it.  It showed me many aspects of how a manufacturing company was run and I was proud to be apart of it.  Valuable life learning experiences gained.  I gave it all up to settle down and have a family.  No regrets.

I had a great experience working at Mustang Survival, however, the management was very scattered and payment for my services was often late (over 1 month). The culture was awesome, everyone was great to work with, helpful, and collaborative. I learned a lot and my boss was awesome to work for. The downside is that my team was very small, so I often had nobody to consult with on projects, and if I needed feedback, I'd have to book time weeks in advance.

Management delays in decision-making, making the wrong decisions and being unable to recognize when an incorrect decision has been made wreaked havoc on schedules, priorities and budgets. 

They've mainly been a life jacket company for the past 50 years and will still be only selling life jackets in another 50

The company has a great culture and so many smart and friendly people. There is a lot of pressure as the company is growing fast and modernizing systems and processes in parallel. If you want to be challenged and are willing to learn a lot, and fast, this company will be a good fit for you.

Their lack of process and no proper guides regarding the approach and deliverables mean every task given to you should start from the scratch. 
If you need a line of professional experience to fill in your resume, it is a good place to be.

This place is the most toxic and has the most absurd leaders and management.  Work load is unmanageable and leadership does not know what and how to work the systems.  

Lots of employee perks like free lunches and social activities. Management works hard but also hard to talk to.   Overall would recommend the company . 

Interview process was good. Training  was okay but more required. Very stressful and a lot require from you. Gave it 120% but was not appreciated. The job is not worth the salary they offer.

A great organization to work for as a beginner and nice opportunities are available upon completing certain duration in the organization. Very collaborative and relaxed place to work at.
