I just came upon this review site indirectly sort of. And I had to take the time to also post a review. Although my review is fora time many years..but I see nothing has changed. 

Back then it was you just answered an ad in the newspaper and came in for an interview. So I started off by going with a training delivery deliver. You just rode with him and saw how the knife deliveries were made, collected, payments, etc.

So after a few days I started the route on my own. You were asked to call in a couple times through the day to see how things were going. Then after working several days or so on my own, on one of the calls in I realized if I'm going to work here I should ask the owner I was speaking with about what the wages were (because that was never discussed in the interview or during the training days).

So I said something like, yup its going okay..can I just ask you what does this job pay? Well he had meltdown! He started yelling and screaming on the phone things like "why are you asking me that for", etc. It was to the point of how dare you ask me for what it pays.  Ya right! Like you dont count every penny of sales everyday, so you know its important about the monetary part.

But this was unreal. So I realized then and there the owner was a total screaming hot-head with an anger control problem. So obviously I left after that, and it saved me wasting any more days, weeks, or months at the place.

I dont write this because I'm mad about that now, I just write it because its was so funny then and now reading these other reviews about the screaming owner nothing has changed. I just thought it would be funny and enlightening to include the review.  

I was in the Hamilton shop.. I know they have other locations. And I think they were Nella brothers (not sure how many) that owned it. Not certain about that. But it sounds like its still the same screaming, anger control issue owner(s) still there based on these other recent reviews.

Bottom line: Don't waste your time at this dead end place. Like I said I was lucky only took me a few days to realize! :):)

PS For my start and finish dates below, I'm just going to approximate  it because I cant remember that far back.

You will have ti fight them to get paid overtime that you almost always have to do because they don't plan routes accordingly. They also make you work 3 jobs for the price of one. They can't keep route drivers and are constantly hiring every few months because they all quit due to how terrible the job is. So many deliveries and routes and management is only in it for themselves. HR also won't help you and sides with management even if they owe you a paycheck.

And don't bother expecting much besides an ok pay, they will fire you without cause if you demand to be paid for the hours you are worked. Read your contract fine prints to make sure you aren't signing something that allows them to treat you horribly.

The owners are also selfish and will scold you and embarrass you for standing up for your working rights and conditions. 

Avoid like the plague. Not worth the hassle

I delivered knifes  through the knife rental service provided to many restaurants in and around Toronto. I learned how to safetly handle knives and traverse the very busy roads in the GTA very efficiently. The management was mostly fair but increased the workload considerably and held the drivers accountable for parking tickets. My co-workers were very friendly. The hardest part of the job was that the quality of the knives and sharpness took a huge blow and many customers complained everyday. I would say that the most enjoyable part of the job was meeting new people everyday

Excellent staff with extraordinary skills are hired for all non key decision making roles - no one is driving the bus. 
They insist you follow the Nella system but provide little to no training as to what their system is. If you want to over promise and under deliver, this is the company for you. 
PS do not expect them to respond to your HR concerns.

It was never a job I look forward to going in, however it paid my bills, and was something to gain working experience. The day I decided I had to leave was the second day in a row the owner called an employee into his office and literally screamed at them for not doing their job as well as he felt they should have. Everyone could hear every word.

I got my career started in a new direction with Nella Mississauga. The owners are down to earth and supportive. Feels like a family company.

I learnt a lot about business ethics, project management, and data conversion.

Was employed for nearly 4 years. Like any job you have your good days and your bad days. Typical work atmosphere with the usual gossip by co workers and management. If you ignore it you will be fine. Owners were good for the most part. 

It was a great transition from the restaurant industry to retail, and the store manager was extremely hardworking and understanding. Unfortunately, full time hours at minimum wage is still not enough money to live on your own in Toronto.

Abused employees. The monarchy can be top to bottom. If your on the bottom .....good luck. Owners need to be more aware and understanding of employees. Still it wasn't a bad place to work.

please improve your staff, workplace culture, attitude, management and the way things are done there and i can guarantee you, you'll have staff who actually love working there.
