A typical day at work, it was a long hour job, we worked over 15 hours daily.
What I had learned is that you need to be in tip top shape for this job, and need to be energized, and well interactive with co-workers.
Management was well maintained.
My co-workers were all very kind, and very interactive with one another.
The hardest part of the job was waking up in the early early hours of the morning to go to work. ex. 4:30am. and standing for so long, work wasn't over until around 9:00-10:00pm somedays even 11:00pm. It was a very hard job, and you needed to take enought food to last you all day, somedays the food would be not so good, because of the weather temperatures being so hot.
My enjoyed part of the job was being able to work with others, and they would let you know what they were doing on the work site to keep everyone safe. All in all I really liked this job!

wake up before the sun go home after dark, eat while working once a month get a free lunch, unless on the road which mean outside of winnipeg for 2 weeks to a month you get meals paid and hotel. co-workers were great managment had no mercey. hardest part of the job was the amount of days working in a row and the hours just the combination of being away from home and working too much is draining and not fair to the poeple of the company and mostly benifits the company itself. if you want to call getting taxed half your check fair because youve over worked and now your over time is pointless. I LIKE WORKING LONG HOURS AND MAKING GOOD MONEY BUT NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF MY FAMILY AND HOME LIFE.

I worked for Nelson River for almost 4 years. The company itself has a lot of perks. One looking in, might think they treat employees well. Outings, sporting events, parties, etc. 

The problem is like everywhere else. There is major favoritism in the company. It doesn't matter how good of a job you do, at all. If someone doesn't like you, they will find a way to get rid of you. Meanwhile employees who do absolutely nothing but watch youtube videos, get away with it. 

They do have a few really awesome employees, which helps, but for the most part it is a toxic work environment. The stress, is not worth the money. The people on the job sites, treat the employees like trash. They yell, scream, call names. 

Show up in the morning before sun up, and heading home after the sun has already gone down. Jobs varied from day to day from being a flag person, to a heavy equipment operator. I had gotten more experience driving the wobblies, dealing with interesting motorists and the overall learning the steps of highway construction. The hardest part of the day would for sure have been the hours, working up to 14 hours/day, and the extreme weather, but to be expected working in the construction industry. All in all a very enjoyable experience

I honestly regret choosing this company. From the start, communication was slow and unclear, and it only got worse as things went on. What was promised didn’t match what was delivered, and every time I tried to get answers, I felt brushed off or given vague responses.
The quality of the service/product was disappointing, especially considering the price. It felt rushed and poorly handled, like they didn’t really care about customer satisfaction. I also had issues trying to resolve things afterward — customer support was unhelpful and took way too long to respond.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this company. There are definitely better options out there that actually value their customers.

Job pays better than most places I've worked and ample opportunity to learn how to fix service and operate heavy equipment, overlooked safety protocols almost resulted in a near fatal accident. They tend to promise certain advancements/ positions but do not follow through on it. Training / learning environment is very discouraging and toxic, it's a "you can't learn until something goes wrong" environment and when it does go wrong your treated like it was your fault you didn't stop it or know how to fix it. You also get belittled alot if you don't know what your doing 

The positions of Flag Person and Duty Driver are basically one of the positions potentially available with Nelson River Construction. A family owned business and Professional also. Nelson River Construction gave me an opportunity to see Manitoba in a more grandiose fashion. With a Living Expense for food on the road you can choose to order from a restaurant or maybe just buy some essential groceries if you're lucky enough to have a half-fridge in your room. Working in camp was bad, typical day at work was eating expired food.  Company was to cheap to supplie quality food.  When management showed up they wouldn”t eat our food.  Workplace culture was sickening and even worse at the shop.  Hardest part of the job was trying to not fall a sleep behind the wheel due to the long hours.  Most enjoyable part of the job was reporting the company for not following safty procedures.  I like watching out for the safty of my coworkers

What is the best part of working at the company?
Being laid-off for the winter and not having to deal with the drama. The bosses don't care about your health or safety.

Some would say the public, it's the bosses and coworkers that cause all the stress.

Complete trash, No one cares about anything that they should

Long and hot, sometimes boring but you find ways to entertain yourself

I’m a loader operator on a base crew  I work with a great crew great foreman good management staff

Operators getting out of there machine to do labour work  we shouldn’t have too

Multi cultural staff good working conditions fairness mostly positive
