Working at Next to Mom has been great.  As a registered early childhood educator, I feel I am given lots of support from co-workers and management.  An answer or collaboration is always received.  Pay reflects your amount of experience and is on a pay grid.  If you are qualified (ECE) you get more pay as well as if you have experience.  I have been here many years and love it.  With the pandemic, there have been added pressures such as extra cleaning however an extra staff has been provided in each room.  PPE is provided.

The pay is basically minimum wage plus the government grant, for the amount of work you do it’s not even remotely enough. The pay does not match the work required whatsoever. 

 They’ve been unable to hold onto staff due to pay and stress levels. Both new hires and long term employees have up and left or stopped showing up with zero notice. 

The atmosphere isn’t very positive or motivating and management aren’t supportive. Management needs to take a good look at what’s not keeping staff and change up their methods. 

Barely any positive feedback from management, ever. Gossip and negativity is CONSTANT from the supervisor and other staff. Extremely unprofessional, very stressful and no advancement opportunity. The issues between management and regular staff was so brutal that they had to hire an HR officer to come in for "staff retention" interviews. Insane, I have never experienced this kind of treatment or witnessed this kind of extreme malpractice in all of my years of experience.

During my time at Next to Mom there has been some changes.  There is a new Supervisor who enjoys mentoring and giving different perspectives and helps us with new ideas.  Training for new staff is awesome and they hire good staff not just a body.  Programming time is given weekly and we are given good feedback and given commendations for the way our rooms are run and the way they look.  Management is always improving and helping us improve.  Love it here!

Working at next to mom was not worth it! Management is unbelievably rude and not friendly! The amount of work they want done for the pay is not worth it at all! Lots of drama between staff and even management. Management doesn't communicate with each other and they are never on the same page! 
The stuff management let's staff get away with is not ok!!! 
Don't waste your time here, there are lots of better daycares to work at!

Working at next to mom was get stressful. You don’t get support when needed, always get blamed for things you don’t do, lots of favouritism, gossip, and management was very unfriendly. They simply don’t care about staff unless you are a favourite and will chose staff to target to get them to leave. 

One good thing about this company is that professional development was paid. 

As an RECE I feel supported and appreciated here at next to mom.  I have opportunities for professional development, and I am challenged to be the best version of myself as an educator. As a LGBTQ person, I have felt accepted and respected since day one. We all work together here to make the experience for our children one that is engaging and fulfilling. 

Next To Mom is such a great place to work! Management is respectful, patient and strives to teach all employees on a day-to-day basis. The families are great and the classrooms are run so well. I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone here! 

Like many childcare places, it can get stressful, but management does their best to make it so you don't get burnt out, they are flexible to work with! I highly recommend working for this daycare. You form great connections with the children and their families!! 

The management at Next To Mom is highly supportive. Staff are regularly given program time and offered opportunities throughout the day to enhance their knowledge and skills.
