What is the best part of working at the company?
Worked there for 27 years and never had an argument, parent complaint or a student outburst!   My colleagues were absolutely superb in every way...helpful, supportive, collegial and friendly! 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Honestly, I wasn't stressed at all in the school in which I served. Surprisingly great admin, staff, students, parents!

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Environment is safe and modern, culture is totally supportive.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I arrived early to prepare for the day.  I left rather late most days as I was a coach for a couple of teams: sport and technology!

What is the best part of working at the company?
Having the opportunity to give kids the extra help they need. Also getting to know them and staff. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
I find it's not stressful, it's actually a relief to know that some kids have that extra ear that is there to listen when there's something they need to talk about or ask something to.

The environment and culture is incredible!! 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day at the company is just like a regular day at home for me, some day's more quiet and peaceful. I love the hours where I'm on the same schedule as my kids, going and coming together.

I like the fact that it's Union and the fact that we work independently.  The people at the school that I work in are very nice

The only thing for me is the hours. 1230 to 9 at this school

Work environment is a comfortable one. We work at our own pace

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I am custodian at a school, fist thing I do is clean the cafeteria after the kids lunch. Then I clean bathrooms while I wait for school to end. Then I clean 8 classrooms, sweep mop, dust, wipe every students desk. Then I clean the office area, staffroom, library, common room and music room

Love the hours and making a difference in a childs life

The number of children that need additional help and the shortage of workers

Its is a very enjoyable place to work 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
8:30 - 2:30 the day goes very quickly because there's always something to do

No work life balance. Ever escalating workload as a teacher. Disrespectful students and parents. Micromanagement from admin. Pay is sub par. 

If you’re looking to be happy and have a family life, apply elsewhere. It’s just not worth it. Stress beyond.  

Class sizes are enormous. Sometimes over 35. Parents do not support you. Students are extremely disrespectful and don’t expect admin to support you. It just won’t happen. They’ll wonder why you can’t control your own class.

Talking with the other drivers.

Elementary children and traffic

Employees feel unappreciated and many are disgruntled

Enjoyable, make the best of it

I was hired about 11 years ago. Really enjoyed working for NLESD at first. Within a couple of years the job became stressful due to being under staffed and consistent payroll errors. Very difficult to track earnings and paystub is very confusing. Pay and benefits are great. But, wasn’t enough to keep me there. Still work there on a call in basis. 

For the time that I worked there, it was a great work environment most of the time.  Being in administrative positions, the job did entail a certain amount of stress. The coworkers were great and the people that I interacted with daily were fantastic. 

Gander is a lovely area if you are able to get work teaching here. Surrounding areas in central are also nice. Problems with the education system, yes. But usually the teachers are in it together!

It's an awesome workplace and I love it there.. the students and staff are wonderful. And I love the accounting aspect of the job.  Every day is a new challenge that I love
