Nordock has consistently grown for over 20 years by the dedicated efforts of real people.  It's industry has proven to be an essential service to the economy in strong times and weak.  

I consider myself very fortunate to have been given a chance many years ago.  Challenges ebb and flow but consistency prevails.  The right attitude and work ethic have always been recognized and appreciated.

I love contributing to a company that builds such a variety of tangible product from raw material and supports the livelihood of so many good people in the process.

As time goes on, improvements are compounding from the strong founding values.  Culture is developing, standards are rising and the outlook is bright.

I'm thankfully every day about not commuting to or living any further west.  The east end may not seem to have as many opportunities but this one is golden.



The office they are way behind in technology and the wording "we have always done it that way" came up quite often 
a lot is not computerized. they don't like change they are what i would say stuck in a rut. There is no mentoring/leadership from the bosses at Nordock. On the floor No Quality control so guys are constantly upset about what others have not done or did wrong, which creates animosity on the floor (not a great environment) and the pay is far from great. so its a bit of a revolving door.

started the morning at 800 am.im new so the foreman comes in not a word no good morning how are ya nothing.Now straight to the shop set up a welder wich was not looking to healthy plugs the welder in and the foreman brings these docking things.ok he tells me weld here there here.if that foreman was smart he would get the new welders hired on  to weld on a piece of scrap steel not on brand new equipment.secound the air in there is blue as the sky.You need to wear a respirator in there for ten hours a day.so there my review.DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME.

There is way too much overhead, a lead hand for every department, a supervisor for every department, a supervisor for supervisors and the gm. They will say anything to get you hired then not follow through. Good shop to learn how to basic weld due to all welding being production welding, leave the shop to find a better paying job, newer gm to the shop is outside work acquaintances  with most supervisors so complaints aren’t taken seriously. Stay away 

This place has the opportunity to be a great source of local work and help people launch careers. Unfortunately they are too poorly managed to ever accomplish that. The HR person is in a relationship with shop supervisor so no confidentiality. Floor supervisor your best friend until he turns on you out of the blue. It’s unfortunate it will never be a great place or even a good place with the current mgmt. 

What a joke, they hire some of  these young ones and they want to be on their phones most of the day and they think they know it all. Some of the supervisors have no people skills and like to yell at you. No culture at all in the place.. Upper management has their favorites in the place, and if you are not one of them forget it.
There are unfair managers and supervisors who promote lazy people while those of us who work hard  get nothing.
Best thing is to RUN


Quotations were done in excel and you had to include a picture too. The format was terrible.

Also on my second day I was provided with a task to enter orders that had a 24 hour turn around time, my coworker who was there longer did not have these orders to do.

Probably should have seen a bad job coming when they hide behind a staffing agency to hire

Great place to start out as a welder fresh out of school however the temperment of a few supervisors there is random. Some days they're fine, other days dont even go near them. (Eg.) Someone was belittled for using a calculator by a supervisor and no action was taken and HR doesn't exist. The only redeeming quality is the other employees who are friendly and benefits

I was hired to improve processes but was blocked by the procurement manager. Someone outside of my department was trained to do my job and I was completely ignored. The noise level from loud conversations about personal issues made it impossible to concentrate.  

The management out on the floor of the shop is basically left to the supervisors of the departments. A multi million dollar company that seems to be operated like it is a lemonade stand.  They could definitely use some training for new hires.
