Started a few years back. Older workers told me that the company was going downhill fast. I realized they were right as the years went by.

Very poor management. They make decisions for the warehouse that don't actually benefit the warehouse or the people working in there. Management is all about health and safety until an important deadline is coming up, or they aren't reaching the goal RPH for the day. Health and safety flies right out the window when it's go time.

There's also a huge turnover rate. Favoritism among internal promotions. Lots of really good hard workers quit or were let go within the last couple months. I can count on my hands how many coworkers I started working with that are actually still here.

I've been passed on jobs, and then asked to train the person who got the position. I then had to deal with normally a very useless yet talkative friendly person. They almost always either quit or asked to be demoted less than 3 months later. 

We had someone who deserved the trainer position, but got passed enough times they decided to quit and our training processes have never been the same since. Nobody knows anything anymore.

My point: they love talkers, and people with degrees. If you have a degree and can manipulate a conversation in your favour, they would love to have you. Hard working traits mean nothing to this company.

Do not bother working here. Management pays lazy workers under the table as incentive to take high ranking positions. They don't care what skills you have. About 10 solid team members have quit between January and June due to poor management and pay. There are at least 5 more hard workers looking for other jobs. They just gave an inflation raise and it's almost offensive. All most recent day positions have gone to night shift staff. 

They have five day trainers and only two know how to do anything. Two people who aren't trainers are constantly training trainers with improper pay. The other three just wander and do things wrong as there is no accountability. 

HR pretends it knows nothing and acts surprised when people quit. Management will set you up to fail. They genuinely do not care about you. 

If you're a favourite, you'll make it to the top fast. If you're literally anyone else, you are dirt under their shoe.

Do not work here unless you are incredibly lazy and want a paycheck simply for showing up.


Very poor employer on many fronts -- only real benefit was a few co-workers.

Wages are extremely low, way below poverty levels and even with the consent "mandatory" overtime, you're struggling to get by. 

Don't count on getting a promotion or advancing to a new role unless you're friends with the supervisor or on "light duties" - even then...

No benefits unless you're full-time and that only happens a few times with only a couple hires each time (again determined by favorites not performance). Only available perk is wholesale cost goods, but...

Hours are long and you're expected to work above your standard 40 hours a week - after the peak times, layoffs happen within weeks to which last at least 2 months. High turnaround rate too.

At the end of the day, I would not recommend this job to anyone at such a low wage -- its not worth living in poverty for this job. If they start paying livable wages for entry positions, then perhaps NRI would be a decent venue for a summer job.

They make you work multiple jobs with the wage of one, tell you your job is the lowest in the unit and need to apply to higher positions for better pay, but won't hire you for them when you apply. You can technically do the higher positions... without the title or the pay. NRI loves to do that. They will even go as far as to hire an outsider for that job and make YOU train them, while you still get paid the lowest in the building. 

NRI has really fallen hard. It used to be a great company until they started firing all the older people that knew the job and left the newer employees clueless and careless.

They don't really do advancement anymore. They mostly want people with degrees. By the way, it's not worth it spending thousands on a degree just to work a 17.50/hr job at NRI. Find someplace better.

coworkers are generally friendly and helpful, but there are some people in management that are absolutely insufferable. the lack of planning and optimization leads to management pressuring workers to work even harder to meet daily goals. 

 the higher ups are oblivious to the struggles and working conditions that are unacceptable, because they never check in with any of the locations. they do nothing to improve the procedures and are strictly money focused so they constantly cut corners.

I would advise anyone planning on working here to take the dozens of negative reviews into heavy consideration. I’m very glad I left this company despite missing some of the great coworkers that are stuck here.

While NRI is a very easy job to understand, it’s not worth your time. Unless nobody else will hire you, don’t waste your time trying to work here. Management only ever promotes the useless lazy people or their favourites. If they don’t like you, they will call you off and wait until the very last minute to call you in. Unless you get full time, you have no job security. They force overtime during peak seasons and will write you up if you miss more than one OT shift. More than 5 experienced veterans all quit in the last month because they can’t get raises or respect. Their pay grade is pathetic and even if you work harder than people in higher positions, you get capped easily. No room to grow and they only promote who they like. When the team gets stressed they buy ice cream to make people feel better.

NRI is overall a good company to work for despite a few qualms that seem unavoidable given its environment. Its a very goal-oriented company that demands its employees to do their best in achieving them, and rewards the hard workers adequately, however there is a great deal of gossip and foolishness that go on due to the rewards that are given out. The management is generally slow to respond to problems in production which make it hard to do your job properly, and almost always gravitate towards temporary fixes rather than permanent fixes. They're quite fair with wages and give regular raises to those who consitently work hard, and they also allow employees to use company sports equipment and have annual or bi-annual product giveaways and bulk sales.

Your coworkers are amazing, it's like a little family and everyone wants to help each other out. They have poor safety standards, reviews almost never happen and they'll dodge your questions about a raise. Management will try to impede on first aid attendant duties and if you offer to be first aid they'll make it clear that you becoming an OFA is for the benefit of the company so always get copies and document yourself. It's best to get your warehouse experience and leave.

Great leadership at the floor level, RRSP Match, unique Giveaway for employees each year, follows safe work practices, will work with you around appointments and special occasions if they are able, steady weekday schedule if you so choose.  The draw backs? … NRI has its limitations in that it doesn’t always have steady work due to the nature of the business. It can involve a lot of OT at times (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you want to top up your paycheque) but it can be difficult to find work life balance during these times.  The wage cap out for this position encourages employees to leave the floor and move to the office jobs which leaves the floor with limited experienced workers. If you are the type of person who does not want to work in an office setting then the growth potential is limited.

Rule of thumb for working for the company: Never make mistakes. 
Best 3 and half years of my work life to be perfectly honest. The workers make it worth it to show up everyday. The work I did in the department was rewarding. Though, you begin to realize there are people getting the same wages as you when you work your butt off. The higher ups will target you when mistakes happen, and will make sure of your dismissal, even though mistakes by others are more prevalent and often. I wonder if the person who screwed up my last pay got disciplined as well? That was a mistake, and those happen, right? 
Supervisors are there for you emotionally but won't have your back in the end.
