As a person that likes to keep busy I really enjoy the work environment, when its busy the day fly's by without realizing it and when its slow there is opportunity to try different tasks maintaining/repairing the equipment onsite. The management truly believes in safe production and doesn't want to risk anybody getting hurt or equipment being damaged, they are always receptive to ideas on how to do things safer. I would recommend this place to anybody that likes being outside running equipment and learning new skills working with and around railcars equipment.  

People who have been at the company a long time (who have a lot of power) as well as management treat you great when others are around and during meetings but one on one it’s a complete 180.  

You will not have Management see you struggling and offer to help or give you one on one training to see you succeed, they’ll just make your life miserable until you quit or they fire you

Seems pleasant but with an undercurrent of stress because you “should” do, know and be more, work faster.  

Don't waste  your  time  or energy  here, you will  regret  that you  did. Workers  are ok for the most part, but will flip on you in a heart  beat. Any suggestions  for  safety  that could benefit  they will just get  rid of you. Managers  make you pay for your coveralls  and  boots and  winter  gear what you bring to work is what you get .They  preach  safety, but make you reach over knuckles  on the train and climb  under  rail cars with  no protection (ie. Wheel  chocks) Everything  is run down  and super high  turnovers  at this location.  I had to give it a star to write  about  it,  but in all honesty  it deserves  a 0

They lack follow through on company rules and procedures and put plant production over safety.

Bully tactics are used to force you out if they don't have just cause to terminate employment.

Management is over worked and under paid. 

NSC Doesn't follow its own corporate values on honesty and integrity. Fails to follow through on discipline unless it is in favor of the management.

Hostile work environment. They lie to head office. Fake inspections. Fake safety. Cover up accidents. Management cover ups.  Practice full on bullying straight from the 90s. If you do better work than them you are bullied. I was fired while on medical leave. The will know who this is if they read it. 

Worked at the Rocanville site, management is so disorganized and don’t know what they are doing. Head supervisor doesn’t do his job and bullies the employees. And Safety is definitely not their first priority there. Too many close calls. They also play favorited which isn’t healthy for the work place. Pretty sure head office has little to no idea of what goes on at this site. Some very sketchy things.

Working at NSC minerals, a worker quickly learns that those who work hard are expected to work harder with little to no acknowledgment for their performance, save for negative remarks. The physical work environment is decent and repetitively easy, but the pressure set by incompetent and unaware superiors overshadows any and all enthusiasm for growth. 

Although I personally learned many new things while working there, the workplace culture is poisonous.  You are encouraged to be honest and provide constructive ideas and criticism but that works against you in the end. Lots of backstabbing encouraged.

As an employee I have been involved in many aspects of the different tasks completed at site.  Most of the staff are willing to help when able.  Superintendants and Manager spend time planning out the jobs that need to be completed and the steps to complete them.  Clear direction and Superintendants are around to check on employees and progress.  They are also ready to jump in and help if direction is needed.  Good group to work with

Severe lack of training and support, very heavy work load and you’ll never do enough. To your face and in meetings management is nice, definitely not the case behind your back. No paid sick days, not enough compensation for PPE and winter wear, few perks.
