Under new ownership and new management, this is no longer the work environment scathingy described in previous reviews. Things did not change overnight, but they are improving. The health of staff has become a clear priority, work-life balance became more possible. Feedback from the team (reception, assistants, techs, drs-anyone not in management) is encouraged, and if an idea is good it can be implemented. The management team is working hard to revamp the clinic into a better place for clients AND staff. It will take time.
It's still not all rainbows, but now there ARE rainbows. The staff, overall, seem happier, but there are still tough days. 
I've stayed here for the team, for the people working on the floor. They are fun, and inclusive to new hires. It is a steep learning curve if you come into the field with limited experience, but the team recognizes it as a learning thing and is willing to work with new hires to get over those growing pains

Made lots of great friends and was able to use my skill set daily

Long hours, terrible pay… absent management on overnights 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not great…. Very catty… some shifts were great then others would be horrible depending on who was working that day. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Get thrown right into it as soon as you clock in. Constantly trying to catch up with the work load. Constantly understaffed so having to do 2-5 peoples jobs while all managing your own. Rarely getting a full 30 min lunch break. And leaving after you were supposed to be off

Originally I loved working for this company. However, when I went through a personal home situation that required time off or work so I could cope with my mental illness, I was told I was an inconvenience. I quit my job knowing that I’m better off not working there and the next day they post a job listing on indeed saying that you have to be able to work even when your sick mentally and physically. I feel very targeted and and like the managers are vindictive and unprofessional.

Senior staff don't know how to let go... they denied micro-managing while doing it... lots of stress related to support centre staff and if they were actually going to come through when conducting visits,... and last but most importantly the rules about selecting who to pursue/work with and the criteria for this kept changing.... like a game of football where the rules book was rewritten constantly and  markers and goal line keep getting erased and moved farther away... 

The workplace itself is nice but everyone is there to work their hours and that is it. Overtime is looked down upon unless you work unpaid to help your colleagues. It can be busy and chaotic at times but the staff is amazing at helping. Management claims to be understanding but is questionable. Employee mental health is not prioritized.
The workplace can be considered high stress.

The pay is not enough for an adult to survive on.

Stress and gossip are very common

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Fast paced.  Quite busy yet very unfullfilling

NVA is a company that leads with integrity.  My experience has been fulfilling and challenging and has enabled my growth as a professional.  It's the perfect place for strong work work ethic, creative problem solving and collaboration.  I feel really privileged to be part of this organization. 

NVA Canada truly values well-being, provides a sense of purpose and belonging within the community. They are truly invested in caring for the veterinary professionals as well as empower the teams to excel and grow. It has provided me with opportunities to learn and grow as a professional while making an impact. 

The boots on the ground in the vet clinics are solid folk - you can be assured the technicians, assistants, receptionists and veterinarians genuinely care about pets and want to do their best. It's the upper level executive. Most of them aren't from veterinary medicine and instead are doing as much as they can to squeeze the clinics for more profit. 

Team members are amazing. They under pay u and over work you then expect you to do extra work outside of your job description without giving you the proper pay for all the work. Management isn’t good, doesn’t get along with people with mental health issues. They buy a lot of food to “make up” for the low pay, but that is not enough now is it okay.
