Of the many jobs I have had over the years, this has been the worst. Although working on a major DND contract was exciting, that excitement was lost in how poorly this organization was managed.

Although there are many good employees, there are also many bad ones, who take advantage of the system and make things much worse for the hard workers. Having to pick up other people's slack is not a fun task when you are already drowning in your own work because you don't have the tools that are necessary to do your job. 

When you do a good job at this company, it will often go unrecognized. Performance reviews are not done and when they are done, they don't provide the whole picture. If you're expecting to get a raise from doing a good job and exceeding expectations throughout the year, be prepared to be disappointed as you will get the same raise as everyone else, even if that individual was not meeting the required expectations.

The company cannot manage itself, let alone a major government contract. The only reason they have the contracts they do is because they were the lowest bidder and that will prove true when you start working for this organization and discover how unorganized it is. Government withholds funds because of not being able to meet conditions of the contract, I'm surprised people get paid.

Management has very little management-related training and are often running around like a chicken with its head cut off, panicking about things rather than trying to find a solution that will work in the long term. HR is a total nightmare and always has been. And if you're looking to do your job with the right tools installed on your computer - well, they are many years behind in technology. Tools to get the jobs done in the north are also old or non-existent, making everything much more difficult to get done, and you'll be to blame for not getting the job done when you don't have the means of getting it done. Much of this is because the company is not willing to invest money in training, programs or tools unless it relates to the IB program. 

People, including managers, are unhappy. The happiest ones are the ones with blinders on. Managers know that contract requirements are not being done and there's not much they can do about it. The recruiting system is a total bust and the team responsible for recruiting is incapable of doing a professional job. Offers often go out to new-hires with incorrect salary or incorrect information.

Employees are treated like trash for the most part. Employees who do a bad job though - often remain on payroll and are celebrated.

Benefits are very basic, in fact they are the lowest out of any organization I've worked for. Pay is low compared to similar jobs in the same industry.

Myself and other staff have noticed that this company favours certain people. They could be terrible at their job, call in sick three times a week multiple weeks/month, work less than the bare minimum, sleep on the job, yet no disciplinary actions will be taken. If you are not part of this favoured group, you’ll be written up and fired. 

Management does not support their people. The pay is low compared to other companies and they do not provide incentive to working in the north on rotational work. Staff retention is suffering and bringing new people on seems impossible. We are working more and working harder because of a lack of staff yet we are not compensated for it. Getting overtime is like pulling teeth, even though overtime is required to finish the work. 

People who get hired here often last only a few weeks before they quit because they notice what’s going on. Beware. 

As temporary employment with Nasittuq Corporation over the years, i find the sense of adventure in the north awesome, the facilities on site really offer a home away from home feeling with a family atmosphere. 
As a kitchen helper/floater i had the opportunity to assist in all areas of the kitchen, while always learning something new.
The onsite social activities and recreation days are truly a privilege to experience, if your day off allows for it.
Very big gym with gymnasium that has one of the loudest sound systems I've heard, makes for great motivation to stay in shape, sleeping in the summer time is hard as they have the midnight sun, But the rooms have blackout curtains.
Overall definitely a valuable experience, being able to contribute to the operations of the site and exploring the arctic.

What is the best part of working at the company?
They attract new workers by telling them it's "work from home", but then change the policy on you once you're in. 

Long commute (heavy traffic), the mouse keyboard screen setups are really cheap, the chairs are fine but still not the best, lots of people talking instead of working, parking is very expensive, salaries are low and raises don't keep up with inflation rates.

Low salary, noisy environment, cheap office supplies, high commute expenses

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Seems to be more talking than actual working, if you're someone who likes to focus it's a pretty bad environment.

While I generally enjoy my time working here, there is a lot left to be desired on the management/ military side of the operation which can be frustrating.  Very high turnover rate leaves most  positions under staffed or wasting time figuring out who's responsible for what.  The workplace health and safety program may as well be non existent and is largely unenforced.  Frequent command changes on the military side causes inconsistent and arbitrary rule changes that almost always tanks moral.  Payroll may as well be done by a toddler, frequent mistakes and underpayment.

Food was great, lots of options for meals, everything else was terrible

Trying to getting parts ,learning actual job.

Very negative, seemed like everyone was on their way out

Left to own devices. No real guidance, as new employee little to no onsite training provided

I have worked for Nassittuq for a number of years. I found them to pay well,treat you fairly,with opportunity to advance quickly.i made many new friends there.The workplace is safe and clean.Management are always professional and will help you any way possible. I am proud to have worked for Nasittuq and would be happy to work with them again.They are always 100 percent behind you.If you wish to continue your education they will help with that also.

Working 8 weeks to enjoy 8 weeks off PAID!

Traveling to and from remote site

Co-workers are like extended family. Dining experience awesome!

Nothing extraordinary. Unless there's a polar bear siting!

For me the best part was leaving.

Wondering if their bush contracts will be cancelled

There's a lot of nasty, rude people there. A lot of sarcastic condescending emails from Managers.

Bad company to work for. They say they give you this and they don’t

Flights. You can wait around for 5 hrs

Not good.   Some people are ok but worker are very cold

Slow. Not much work but you to do other people’s job
