National Concrete Accessories

I have only been at National Concrete accessories for a few months, and so far, I have nothing bad to say. 

The communication from upper management is great. Everyone works together and is on the same page, so conflict is minimal. Unlike most retail stores, the customers here are professionals who shop daily; which makes for positive and fun interactions. As I am learning, they are patient and friendly, so it's easy to want to help them. 

Most of the people working here have been here for a long time. They like what they do, they are knowledgeable, and they are reliable. Everyone works equally hard, and helps one another when they can.

There is a LOT to learn if you are in sales, and it can be overwhelming at first, but it doesn't take long for things to sink in if you are willing to learn.

Typical day at work;
- taking orders via phone, fax, info dropped off by outside sales staff
- interact with major construction firms throughout Alberta

Learnings included;
- concrete dedicated power tools, fasteners, sealants, chemicals, forming, etc.
- project management experiences that lead to further education in project Business Analysis
- as Safety Officer, learned safety standards, expectations, and goals.

Hardest part of job;
- bringing entire Calgary office up to speed on consistent use of MS Office email and e-filing

Entered details such as payments, account information and call logs into the computer system.
Supported Chief Operating Officer with daily operational functions.
Verified data integrity and accuracy.
Responded to customer requests via telephone and email.
Contacting vendors to verify stock, pricing, delivery dates, etc.
Maintains purchase item codes, delivery requirements and promise dates.
Contacting customers concerning back orders or discontinued items.
Verify and proof printed invoices for accuracy and completeness.
Receiving stock into warehouse.
Developing relationships with office suppliers and negotiating contracts.

I repeat do not work for this company unless you can battle the dusty environment, backstabbing, and looking like an idiot because you cannot find the product and telling the customer your out of stock. Horrible Warehouse Manger unprofessional very bossy and half the times he does not know what's going on. There's two brothers that work there act like they own the place because mommy works there 
too (she's  in mangement) Lots of controling employees telling you what to do. Other than there are a couple good workers that awesome.

Some of the staff that currently works at NCA came in with little to no concrete or construction experience. We provide manufacturer training as well as in house one on one training.      
I feel like the management hires to suit the team and culture over product knowledge There is a learning curve but we have an awesome team of experienced co-workers to help train you. 

The new CEO tries to know everyone by name & has taken the time to chat with each employee on his visits.

There is room for advancement, the company is expanding all the time.

A typical day at National Concrete Accessories is bound to be full of finger pointing, back-biting, gossiping, petty issues transforming into mountains and a general two-faced insincerity from co-workers and management.

Management has no cohesion and is not motivated for the greater good.  Selfish interests and egos run rampant with restructuring used to move friends laterally or somewhat vertically and newly formed enemies being dubiously pushed out.

The bonus structure is extremely suspect and chances are that you would be left wanting.

I've never worked fir such a disorganized company ever, The one thing that seems to be said often about this company is how disorganized they are. Most work there is a guessing game, and the management is just to busy watching you on camera to simply fix any issues, it's like they are looking for people to fail... they don't want people to succeed just fail. Also the work culture is just so toxic, I was literally insulted by the manager when i left.

Management promises everything and delivers nothing. They lie to get you to stay and continue in this toxic environment. Horrible, petty management always playing favorites, lying and back stabbing. I seemed to know more about the material than the so-called management, yet they tell everyone they are wrong in front of the whole staff. Disgruntled employees, incompetent management, no support network. Do not accept a job here. You WILL regret it.

During my time with the company there were some serious challenges and voids at the upper management level that have since been remedied.  My complaints from those days seem to have dissipated with strong leadership and a definitive direction from current management.  

The company held many talented individuals and the company is good at rewarding effort with advancement.

Rewarding place to work, lots of training available for employees who are not from the construction industry. Good benefits, education assistance program promotes further learning and helps offset the cost of continuing education. 
Approachable management with open door policy, plenty of opportunities for professional growth.
