Siloed and often clicky environment.

I was often given busy work as my professional input was never wanted for the project I was contracted to work on as the curriculum, topics and course design had already been planned out. The vision of the project often changed as upper managent hired a creative director that had no experience in online training or education.

I was often left wondering what was expected of me in an environment that discouraged asking direct questions. My team often worked through their lunches and rarely left their desks.  Our team leader was often unintentionally misogonistic which often made working with my team uncomfortable.

This was my tiny insular team - I know that other teams at the NFB loved their work at the coeagues alike. I hope to once again have the opportunity to work with the NFB, but under different circumstances.

Over my years of working at the National Film Board, I learned the craft of designing innovative and engaging educational experiences for visiting school groups.

While the work our team did was perceived as a secondary offering to the NFB's core mandate for nearly a decade, educational kits and workshops were later incorporated into the general offering of National Film Board educational outreach.

The Film Board continues to attract incredibly talented people, who believe in the value of Canadian film-making. It does however suffer from administrative bloat, and overly stratified decision-making.

This is a tough review to write, as I was only on contract with the NFB, as opposed to being a full-time employee. I typically worked from home, so cannot speak to the work environment or culture.

I enjoyed the work that I did, as well as interacting with the NFB employees that I met. It's a creative environment, filled with people working on interesting projects.

Productive and dynamic workplace that was very opened to mentorship. Very constructive feedback was given to me on a weekly basis, in order to improve my skills. The workplace culture was very positive and the management team was very flexible and accommodating to the needs of the employees. Positive experience working at the National Film Board.

I absolutely loved working for the NFB. Incredibly friendly workplace culture, very open to ideas and collaboration. Beautiful office space with lots of private rooms to take phone calls if needed. Shortest walk from Union Station possible.

Wonderful place to work filled with passionate and driven people. Layed back environment with focus on perfecting the craft of storytelling and elevating Canadian animation and storytelling on the world stage.

It was a great and fun place to work absolutely loved it. Everyone there is so friendly, great atmosphere. Amazing location as well, the work was very rewarding as well.
