National Motor Coach

The typical day of work involves prioritizing on the entry and management of new business requests coming in from existing contracts and inbound calls from the general public. Once entered follow-up is required on payment, as well as itineraries to provide to the drivers. Once this is completed I manage various marketing platforms from google adwords, SEO, print, online, busrates.com as well as additional Branding. The workload in the high season (May-October) is rather busy, but for the most part manageable. In the low season we are required to create our own work and seek out new opportunities. 

My co-workers and controller are great to work with and for and we work in a very healthy team environment. The owner is trying to retire, however he is finding it difficult to walk away from the business and has a very old school way of thinking and can be rigid in breaking previous patterns of doing business. Convincing him to accept and embrace new concepts is the most difficult part of the job. 

The most enjoyable part of my job is when I do make decisions as the company is a bit smaller, you can visually see the changes to the business and see you impact better than in some cases a larger organization.

I was happy as a Motor Coach Driver there.  Buses were in good condition, Lots of work. I learned a lot about Tours, the Coaches and the areas I had to Charter to. The most enjoyable part was my passengers and going to wonderful places with then as their driver.

the only thing was there s a lot of gossip and some people will say things that are twisted around so you have to watch what you say.
Buses were kept well maintained, but always things of wrong with mechanical things once in awhile.

Charters were fun and I love driving the Motor Coaches, There is on other job in my estimation that is any better.

In the tour industry your days as a driver can be very long or very short. Following the rules of the transportation industry. You have to have a lots of patience with people from around the world. Team player is very important in the job. Room for advancement is available to those that are interested. But if you want to travel and enjoy driving and get paid to do it this is the job for you. 
 You will make new friends and interaction with others happens and communication is very important.

No respect/ support in drivers 
Dispatch up to 24 hr notice, high season lucky if you are aware of next work 4 days out
Owner has a temper and lashes out verbally
Depending on favorite list on what happens to you e.g. low on list - have $300 preventable damage accident - loose job. Higer on list do $1000+ put in another bus and continue.
Lay over hotels can be scarey as goes as cheap as possible.

National Coach Lines has the potential in being a great company to work for; sadly the ownership and management makes for a very toxic working environment. There is little to no trust among employees and a constant fear from an owner who bullies their staff to get their own way.
Many of the buses are old and should be retired; much like the owner of the business.

I really can't really say anything good about national some office staff e nice most of there buses should be retired!! There very unsafe to drive sad

The Company maintains its coaches to the highest standards. Busy months are seasonal May through October providing tours throughout Western Canada with occasional trips to the USA.

could be a good company but part of the management and owner is to judgemental and quick tempered. If you are strong in your beliefs then you will have some conflict, be a yes man and suck up to bosses you can get away with many things. Management doesn't stand behind its drivers.

I enjoyed working with all my co-workers and especially my boss who was Service Manager. It was a challenge learning about buses and how they are built.

Upper management is not interested in keeping experienced staff. 
Staff are treated well at the beginning then once they have been at the company for a while their value as am employee decreases.
