It is an exciting and enjoyable place to work. Everyday was great. I learned many different things such as building therapeutic relationships with clients, writing case notes, participating in community groups with clients. The management was great, friendly and reliable. Most co-workers were team players and enjoyable to be around. The hardest part of the job was wanting to help a client but they were not willing or ready to get the help they needed. The most enjoyable part of the job was meeting all the members of the community and being able to help them.

Ensuring that cultural practices and traditions are upkept amongst Ministry requirements and expectations.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Supportive, welcoming and casual.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Counselling appointments with community members.

Some of their team members is either related by family association or long time family friends. And if you fall under this category, it definitely seems that you are more likely to be hired. Some of workers do not have any qualifications to work in the position they're in but because they have tenure with the company their qualifications are often overlooked, resulting in poor quality of services.

Like any other place NCFST  has pros and cons. If i dont like a pertinent aspect of my job.. i will quit. Plain and simple. At NCFST i feel like i am part of a team.. a family... we work together, build each other up and draw on staff strengths. There are disagreements but they are handled quickly and efficiently with strength based results and resolutions. I am actually recognized for my strengths,skills and talents .

Although I had to adapt to working with younger kids, it was amazing experience & I learned about a new culture, other than my own, which was a plus. I enjoyed the energy and the people I work with.

NCFST is large organization and your experience largely depends on your team and management. I had a wonderful team and very supportive supervisor. Work life balance was always stressed and remote work was available. It's a rewarding career that really emphasizes supporting the community it serves.

Native Child and Family services works hard to tend to the needs of those who are coming into their space. They provide programming for both youth and adults, and a cultural environment. Native child and family youth services works to treat you like family, and is an overall warm environment.

I love coming to work and teaching both Aboriginal and non Aboriginal children about the culture that birthed Canada. Atypical day at work includes some stress, some laughs, and a lot of teamwork. Most enjoyable is working with the children and influencing the next generation.

Native Child is a safe fun place that allows indigenous peoples to come in and meet new people and get the help and support they need. Native Child puts the people first! M matter who you are you are always welcome there. miigwetch ;)
