As a “career” choice, this workplace doesn’t fit my goals. Wage caps out and there’s only so much room to grow. There is room for growth for new hires with minimal experience, but you have to really show your effort like any other workplace. 
Wage is decent. Not a comfortable living wage unless you don’t have an ambitious lifestyle. 
First few months can be great, onward the stress endures.
Communications lacks heavy amongst the supervisors and hierarchy of the company. Which can result in more stress. A few others have had the same experience that I’ve spoken with that no longer work there. 
Supervisors communications ethic is poor when speaking to employees and can easily result in belittlement is very common.
Overall the people can be good people, a lot of sides get played and there’s only so much they’ll actually do/listen to when they say “you can come to us with anything”. I never felt comfortable talking to anyone, except 1 person. Lots of gossip results in very minimal privacy when confiding in one.
One final mention; you can put in 10-13 hours days consistently, the one day you want to clock out on time (the minimum work hour requirement) because you want so more home time, you get questioned like you don’t do enough.

Before I started at Newport landscaping I was having issues with working for a previous company that wasn’t treating me fairly. I called Newport and was literally hired over email right on the spot! Ever since starting I’ve already gotten a fair raise in just a few months after showing my work ethic and that I wanna learn and that I care about the job I do. They’re very understanding and helpful if you have any questions or concerns, show up to work on time and finish the jobs you’ve been assigned and you’ll have no issues working at Newport. I can truly say their one of the best landscape companies to work for in Niagara! Coming into work now feels like your hanging with friends and family everyday, Everyone is super friendly! Highly recommend working with them! 

Newport has been a great place to work. My workdays are interesting with unique projects that help further my skills in the landscape industry.  I feel valued in my work place from acknowledgment from my superiors  and a fair wage and incentives that motivate me to improve. Management is nuanced, they work to motivate me but also support a work life balance with flexibility so i can better manage my family/home life. The most enjoyable part of my job is being able to be creative daily to fulfill my job roll. We also have monthly team building events that help our crews bond as a team.

Honesty LOVED the work so much. The owners of the BEAUTIFUL properties were so nice and welcoming some would let me ply with their dogs or just have genuine conversation and I have seen such cool things and people… but. My co-workers did not make me feel welcome, some made sure to make me feel stupid and they were so ignorant. I also had a life threatening accident one night after being sleep deprived from working odd shifts.. my next work day I was made fun of to my face.. do you know how horrible that made me feel? I survived an accident and I’m being made fun of… it wasn’t good. To sum it up- the work was great, the people in the company made it very hard.. I would not recommend to a friend as their turn over rate is like 90%

This company lacks basic communication. Labourers go very under appreciated and under paid for their time and quality of work produced. Lead hands and Management are ignorant. 

There are some great people working for this company - unfortunately they are the ones getting no recognition. 

I urge this company to do better for their remaining employee's. If management feels threatened they will terminate you without a second thought. If you are looking for a job with opportunity for advancement, I would suggest continuing your search.

I worked there for a couple weeks & was horrible!! The boss was nice buttt the leadhands are lazy n get away with everything and the turn over rate was crazy seen a new face every other day. Your just a number they get rid of you fir no reason just cause they don't like the way you walk or talk. I wouldn't tell my worst enemy to work there.

This job makes me feel excited to be creative and come up with new ideas because the work atmosphere encourages it. People are nice and work together, which makes it easier to share thoughts. Sometimes, when things change in the company, it can be a bit scary, but everyone helps each other adjust.

The work environment here is truly enriching. The engaging nature of the work keeps me motivated to learn and grow, while the friendly company culture fosters strong bonds with my colleagues.

Overall, the welcoming atmosphere fosters a sense of belonging that makes working here a truly rewarding experience. From the moment I joined, I felt like part of the family, thanks to the warmth and inclusivity of my colleagues.

Participating in the gardening team has been a fantastic educational opportunity. There is always help accessible when you need it, and the team dynamic is great. It's a rewarding, fast-paced setting.
