I BELIEVE MY TIME AT NEXANS WAS, FOR THE MOST PART, ENJOYABLE. THE INTERACTION WITH THE MACHINE OPERATORS WAS THE MOST ENJOYABLE, SOME OF WHOM WERE VERY EXPERIENCED AND OF COURSE SOME OF WHOM WERE BRAND NEW..
I HAD TO TEACH SOME OF THEM BUT MOSTLY THEY TAUGHT ME! MANAGEMENT JUST SEEMED, TO US, TO BE TOTALLY OUT OF TOUCH AND NOT VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE, HOWEVER THE PLANT MADE MONEY FROM WHAT WE COULD TELL!
I ADMIRED THESE GUYS AS SOME OF THEM HAD BEEN THERE FOREVER AND ENDURED ANYWAY..
THE HARDEST THING I FOUND WAS HAVING ALMOST NO SUPPORT FROM OUR ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT AND LITTLE LEADERSHIP AS WE WERE LEFT TO SOLVE MOST PROBLEMS ON OUR OWN, HAVING ALMOST NO DIRECTION FROM THE POWERS THAT BE....

What is the best part of working at the company?
The people are great.lots of longer term employees have stayed for a long time, 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Some of the change management in recent past was rushed and some good people were laid off .

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Innovative, hard working teams, very supportive. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Depends on your role in the company and if you are customer facing or not.

Good place to work as long as you are white. The pay rate is well if you don't mind the 12 hour tedious shifts, but the amount of racism and targeted bullying created a toxic environment that is not tolerated at any other places of work. Most white workers are not accustomed to multiculturalism, and unfortunately act with "white" superiority towards other workers it makes you think you are back in the 30s. This is a problem that I believe will never get fixed. Please find a job elsewhere.

Working at Nexans tested every aspect of my education and trade skills. Really enjoyed the freedom to design, build and install creative process improvements. The company benefited tremendously by allowing the maintenance staff to self regulate maintenance planning and scheduling. By far the most creative approach to maintenance.

Worked here for 5 yrs. If you don't mind working rotating continental shifts its a good place to work. You can work a straight day or night shift but you need to work it out with the guy of the opposite shift of you.(I worked straight nights)

The only issue with the place is a lack of communication between top management with the employees but the department managers are pretty cool.

Monitor and reccommend improvement initiatives on machine, co ordinate machine operators and manage them for effectiveness and increased productivity. The hardest part of my job is troubleshooting  and maintenance of the lines. the most enjoyable part is seeing the lines running without any issue.

some of the supervisor have no clue and just got promoted because of seniority, company don't care how knowledgeable you are. Union sucks no backup or support, Long shifts, average salary, Dirty, noisy, and polluted environment, Old school people mostly old and retiring so don't care about their life. Money is only good if you're physically and mentally healthy. In short horrible place.

Recently the local senior management has changed. There should be room for improvement now.  New President should make a difference.

The company needs to move into the modern age of technology in many areas.

Nice people, but union mentality everywhere.  Do the bare minimum to get by.  No one is ambitious.  Just status quo.

A bunch of old senior unionized workers who do whatever they want because union protects them new employee’s are treated with disrespect and the union does nothing to aid new employees, they  kick people out before they even get a proper training in order to prevent new employees from gaining enough hours to become unionized 

Management are power tripping bullies with no understanding and respect for anyone "below" them. Rules and policies are subject to who you are and whether they want to make an example out of you. Its a horrible place for people who struggle with mental health issues.
