Making a difference in the lives of the community. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management is awful they ignore PSW's issues and concerns. They don't care about pottering and housekeeping staff. No communication and leadership by management. They set unrealistic expectations and don't staff adequately. Porters on nights usually only have 1 for the entire hospital. Management doesn't care about their staff

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic work environment everyone talks about each other. Staff members crying and abused

The staff is amazing, almost like a family, The enviroment is very faced paced. You are on your own most of the day but there is always help when you need it. The hardest part of the job is hearing the patient stories. Most are sad ones but you get the occasional happy story and that makes its all worth it. On a typical day, you will learn so much. But I think for me the most important thing is to leave home at home when you get to work and leave work at work when you go home.

I completed all my hours needed for field placement, I opened an Airbnb vacation home with my partner and we were rated Super-host on more than one occasion for my good efforts. Working in the hospital and schooling had really prepared me and broadened my success and opportunities.

Typical day at work is different depending on where you are working within the hospital. 
The most difficult part of the job is being on call, especially if you have a family or anything at home to think about before accepting shifts.

The majority of staff are there to help patients and families. There are different cultures at each site. Work is fulfilling. Management can be supportive depending on the circumstances. 

Poor leadership - do not support staff, are not engaged, do not stop bullying and even bully staff themselves.  
Many Managers are only Managers because they have worked there for a long time or are a favorite of Senior Leadership

The hospital culture was a culture like no other; it opened my eyes to the importance of establishing leadership methods and strengthening internal communication, as well as external communication/collaboration.

No guidance from management as porters we run the department ourselves. Management never responds to emails. Work environment is awful low morale working with broken equipment. During COVID we had to fight to get PPE that wasn’t always appropriate.

Worthwhile and meaningful work. The work Culture is great, and the talent is top rate. Management was fantastic, and accessible. Scheduling and contract extensions could have provided more notice but worked out in the end.
