The best part of working at Niagara Park is the team environment. Everyone works together to get the job done, and there’s a real sense of pride in keeping things running smoothly. I also like that the company values safety and efficiency they make sure employees have the right tools and training to do the job well. It’s a place where hard work is noticed, and that motivates you to give your best every day

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part can be handling the large crowds during peak tourist seasons, especially when buses are full and everyone is eager to get to their destinations. It can get hectic managing schedules and keeping passengers comfortable at the same time. But I’ve learned to handle it by staying calm, communicating clearly, and focusing on safety and service. Once you get used to the pace, it becomes easier to manage

The work environment at Niagara Parks is friendly, professional, and team-oriented. People are respectful and supportive, which makes it easy to work together even when things get busy. There’s a strong focus on customer service and safety, and everyone takes pride in representing the Niagara region well. It’s also a diverse workplace where you meet people from different backgrounds, which makes every day interesting and enjoyable.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day at Niagara Parks starts with checking my schedule and making sure my vehicle is in good condition before the shift begins. Once everything is set, I follow my route, picking up and dropping off passengers while keeping the ride safe and on time. Throughout the day, I interact with visitors from all over the world, answer their questions, and help them enjoy their experience around the park. The job keeps me active, and every day is a little different depending on the season and the crowd, which makes it interesting.

For those looking for a decent paying and fairly low stress job the parks is a great place to work. There is zero opportunity to get time off in busy season unless you are a student. Winter time you get laid off which is great for those that can afford it and there is opportunity to work but again, if you pick up work you don’t get any time off besides the two week lay off period which is given last minute at times and not when is convenient for you so it is difficult to plan. So it’s basically work all summer and get laid off in winter or work all year with no vacation. Getting full time is difficult, it goes by seniority and the ones that have been there for years do not leave because they are making top dollar and doing minimal work. Parking can be difficult in certain locations. Great co workers! Minimal support from management as they are in office majority of time doing “administrative duties” which can be stressful at very busy times when you are short staffed. Easy job, very repetitive, very old school and outdated!  Certain locations are more laid back than others, can be very micromanaging by supervisors. Need more professional and younger looking staff. There are some that have very good high paying jobs and do not look presentable. 

I started at the Niagara Parks in 2010. There are so many different areas to work in the parks. But I worked on the tour buses! A typical day at work for me would be entering the building, getting my uniform on, shoving everything into my locker, grabbing my sunglasses. Into the office I went to grab some maps and clock in. Then the real fun started. For the first couple years of working there we still have the "People Mover" buses. We were on the buses announcing stops, attractions, history etc. We would answer questions, clear the doors, and make sure everyone was safe. Then they got the new buses and new uniforms! We were off the buses answering questions, giving out maps, etc. I learned a lot of new things working for the Niagara Parks. I learned a lot of cultures, some words from different languages, the history of Niagara Falls, and even more! it was an awesome learning experience. The management and co-workers that I worked with, were incredible people. I made a lot of new friends. They were all so nice, caring and funny. There was never a hard part of working there. Everything was so enjoyable!

Performed safety checks on all mechanical and electronic systems prior to opening to public. Performed daily tests along side engineers to confirm the safe operation of the railway and to ensure all safety features are working. Also supervised two employees (a Cashier and Passenger loader) and ensured all safety regulations were being followed. Also acted as cashier during off-season. Working for the Niagara Parks Commission was fun and rewarding, throughout my years working there I worked hard and I was rewarded by annually being promoted from Parking lot attendant, the lowest position to cashier, car loader, lower operation, and finally Upper Operator, the highest position a student can achieve. The management team was very nice and easy to get along with. The best part of the job was working with people outside and ensuring the tourists of Niagara Falls enjoyed they time in the city.

Shift hours with schedules posted weekly, usually between 4-8 hour shifts. Learned a variety of skills including customer service and support, cash handling, leadership roles and food services. Management was approachable, in my section. Fellow workers were outstanding and extremely pleasant to be around. Work place culture was unbalanced, as some days were dreadful and other extremely enjoyable. Hardest part of the job was having to deal with a large volume of tourists, with a language barrier, and often being separated from higher-up staff that have more authority over situations, causing stress to new employees, and older employees having to step in for management, when they should not have to. Most enjoyable part of the job was easily the other team members. Everyone had the same motivations and outlook on work-life which made the workplace and comfortable and welcoming environment.

This is a job in my opinion and based on my experience  where it is worth it if you are a retiree.  Other than the top 4-5 in seniority will work during the off season. Drivers were able to pick their schedule based on seniority , but one day all changed and several drivers left as many liked to work in the morning because of other night jobs or family commitments or work on nights for the same reasons. If you like the scenery its nice very busy during peak summer though ( and hope a student ambassador is scheduled to work with you ) The collective agreement is split in half for full time and seasonal staff. You might be doing the same job as a full time employee but receive less salary and benefits. It could be a good step in towards other Transits ( which get $ 10 more x hr ) as it appears well on a resume. The huge crowds will create stressful work days. Good Luck

I worked at Niagara Parks, so I know exactly how things work behind the scenes. The location is beautiful — the Falls and the gardens are world-class — but the way tourists are charged is honestly ridiculous. For example, they’ll charge you $5 for a bottle of water — and that’s just one small example. Parking, food, and attractions are all overpriced, and it feels like they’re trying to squeeze every last dollar from visitors who just want to enjoy the scenery.

Working there isn’t much better. Managers are constantly breathing down your neck, micromanaging every move instead of trusting staff to do their jobs. It creates a stressful environment where you’re always on edge instead of feeling supported.

It’s a shame, because the natural beauty of Niagara Falls deserves better than high prices and a high-pressure atmosphere. Tourists deserve fair prices, and employees deserve to work without feeling watched 24/7.

A typical day involves ringing up sales, greeting customers and providing information to those in need of assistance. Most interactions with paying customers are between 30-45 mins since our sales require a hard amount of detailed scheduling and important information that must be understood by the customer. Customer service is a huge part of every shift, and each person must be greeted with a smile along with a positive attitude. The atmosphere at the welcome centre is very positive and the supervisors are very helpful and understanding. The hardest part would most likely be containing a consistent amount of patience. Supervisors and managers are very supportive of employees that are unable to handle difficult situation and are wiling to step in and take over when needed.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The Food and Beverage management team is the most disconnected team.  Never onsite, making decisions for properties that they do not work in and do not speak to the front line staff in which they make the decisions for.  Neither of them lead by example.  Very ill run department.

Consistently low morale.  Very little product knowledge.  No food or beverage tasting, no local history of the foods and menus reflect a story that is inaccurate of the LOCAL promotion that is sold to guests

Starts positive, with hopes that management are not around to belittle the staff.

Management and higher up personnel inflict terror upon employees, uniforms tops made of poliéster in the summer months are unconfortable.
