A typical day consists of helping individuals with different activities of daily living (ie bathing, laundry, meal prep, cleaning), taking them into the community, giving medications/taking them to medical appointments. It can be mentally draining some days but depending on the location you work at it’s not overly physical of a job. Being able to take the people you support to certain outings can be a lot of fun and rewarding. There also a variety of different client needs throughout the agency so you can gather experience in several different areas.
That being said a major con of this job is management and scheduling. Management seems to be too cliquey and feel almost separated from front line workers. Frontline staff are over worked and constantly filling extended/double shifts but you rarely see supervisors step up and help relieve the staffing issues. It’s hard to move up through the agency as there is no incentive to gain full time work as there is little available, almost every position is temporary and many 40 hour positions have been broken up into smaller ‘multi part time’ chunks. We are under appreciated for all that we do. 

Management is full of bullies. They will transfer you and target you if you speak up about the horrible treatment of the employees and the disabled individuals they support. The agency only cares about money and sees the supported people as walking dollar signs, not people worthy of respect or able to make choices. I feel awful for the families who have their loved ones supported by this agency. The abuses I saw during my time there were unforgettable and unforgivable.

High turnover, management handwaves away concerns from Frontline staff- retention and morale are somehow Frontline fault and not management. 
Workers are exhausted, underappreciated by supervisors, scheduling department. Constantly asked to work above and beyond assigned hours and guilt tripped if you say no.
Short staffed, no plan to make this better anytime soon. 
"You don't quit a job you quit the boss". 
The job itself is rewarding, and the interactions with people you support make it worth coming to work. If management doesn't take a serious stance in fixing their toxic workplace they only have themselves to blame. 

The culture of this company used to one where you mattered and your day to day job mattered. However in recent years management has become a bully. There is little to no job security as everything is part time or temporary. No real room for advancement or incentive to grow. Hour security is good so you can sometimes guarantee your income. But knowing you can be moved at anytime leaves you feeling like you don’t matter and are just a number. The stress of that coupled with unapproachable management this became an unpleasant work environment. 

- I work with a great group of co workers that really love their job. 
- There is always up to date training
- The wage depends on the position, but is well over minimum wage.
- The people we support are really great.

Big turnaround at NACL either you have DSW and you can work day but if your a PSW your on weekends and nights mostly as we dont count for anything . management is terrible and they treat everyone like a number ...... famous last words i heard from Lori is everybody is replaceable

Good place to work. Nice managers and coworkers. Everyone works hard to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for both staff and clients. Ongoing  training and educational opportunities.
