I love working at NOHS - you might expect a hospice to be a sad or melancholy workplace but it's actually the opposite. The interdisciplinary team means everyone has expertise in a different area, and I learn so much from my coworkers. I love seeing families and friends of our residents finally relax when their person comes to our hospice. 
I have appreciated the education and professional development opportunities provided by NOHS to all staff. As someone relatively new to Vernon, I also enjoy how connected our hospice is to the community - I've met so many people and made friends. 

This work makes a difference in my community! We have the opportunity to care for people in our community during one if the most difficult times in their lives.  This is the type of nursing care I imagined I would have opportunity to provide when I started my nursing career. The leadership understands work life balance and equipping their staff to provide evidence based, best practice compassionate end of life care. 

This has been the best Nursing Job I have ever had. It is incredibly rewarding to work with patients and their families. It is a great team, with people that care. Our leaders are invested, they care and are trying so hard to ensure that patients, families, volunteers and staff have what they need and deserve.
Benefits could be improved, but as a non profit the funds are tighter. 
But if you want a job where you make a difference, you matter and you are valued... This is it.

Had to say, went south really fast and very bad. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No safety for staff, lies from management, no team.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Abusive, tyrannical and broken. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Chaotic and no leadership.
No communication or care shown to staff.

I've finally found a place to work where I can provide the care people deserve.

I actually look forward to coming into work rather than having anxiety. My coworkers, management and patients treat me with respect and actually value my efforts. 

Everyone here is incredibly supportive and wonderful to work with.
Hands down the best place to work in the Okanagan.

Work is busy but rewarding, management supports their staff and each other.  There are tough days in the house, but then there is just more support within the team from each other.  Highly recommend this organization, great place to work!

I spent 5 years working with amazing team! We had tons of cry’s lots of laugher! Helping people pass over is a hard experience! With support from the team is makes this job a lot better. One of the most awarding jobs i have ever had!
Met amazing nursing staff. 

The majority of the care staff are very toxic. They have nothing better to do than to gossip about each other and new employees. If you have a strong will of ignoring people you work with then this job might be for you.

This organization is highly recommended to those who are passionate of taking care of people. They are brave and resilient from staff member to management. I am so happy to be part of this wholesome company.  They care on for their people like on how they care to residents.
