What is the best part of working at the company?
There will always be personality conflcts, just that one person that detracts from the overall experience of being otherwise surrounded by wonderful people with great work ethics.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Just an underhanded "mean girl" irritating but not enough to bring the rest of the company down.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
NMB works hard to create a welcoming cohesive team experience and was 95% successful.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Get down to approvals and processing field tickets. If any info is required the field supervisors, superintendents and managers are very responsive and helpful always in a very professional tone. It's very satisfying to complete the field tickets in a timely fashion with no changes required. They are also very flexible and supportive as possible with your needs as well.

There are some positives to NMB. The benefits and RRSP programs are better than most. The work-life balance is outstanding. From that perspective, they are wonderful and accommodating. 

Unfortunately, there are two sides to NMB. The Clairmont office is inviting and a family type environment. Great people and I can’t say enough good about them. The Calgary head office is full of liars and money hungry backstabbers who will lie to your face at every turn. Whether it’s about compensation or job opportunities, they will tell you whatever you want to hear and string you along as long as they can. 

If you are working in Clairmont, you’ll have a positive experience as long as the clowns in Calgary stay away. If you want to work in Calgary, be aware that they don’t respect you and the person you are reporting to will probably find something better and be gone in 5-6 months. 


Back when i started it was a great place. We worked hard, played hard. Was a really good team environment.  Things took a turn once eastern operations began, as they way they did things was opposite of what use to in the west. Spending time working in Ontario was very stressful and not much collaboration.  Didn't feel like a team. Next thing you know east employee got roles leading things for wntire company.  Things went down hill quickly with several good people either leaving or being terminated.  Rash decisions were being made damaging moral to a place i hoped nmb west would never become.  Virus has spread here for the worst and key people in place I don't believe can fix what they created.  Wish I could go back to the nmb of 5-10 years ago. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The people are amazing, and truly do feel like family.  I have been able to work in a few different position with the company and would never want to work anywhere else.  There is opportunity for growth.  the training is top notch!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Just like any other job.  When things get busy, things can always feel stressful.  However, at NMB, there is an amazing team that has your back and works together to get the job done

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It never feels like a 'job".  I enjoy going to work every day.  The company always has something happening to try bring people together.

I worked at Northern Mat & Bridge for about a year and a half and really enjoyed my time there. If it wasn't for a job opportunity arising in a new field of work, I would still be working there. NMB promotes a great family culture, and does whatever they can to support and help their employees. The management team consists of very friendly and approachable people, making for a very comfortable environment. They strive to maintain a safe and happy work place for everyone. Working at Northern Mat you receive numerous benefits and perks that you would not find at most jobs! I would highly recommend Northern Mat & Bridge to anyone searching for a long-term career with a great company.

Was lied to directly by a supervisor blows my mind what some of these guys can do and get away with it

Perceived to be family orientated and open door but they just want emails don't worry they give you a phone just to keep everything quiet on their own devices 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Good at first then they just leave you to figure everything else out on your own they don't like drivers in the shop

Northern Mat is a great company to be a part of. Like any organization, it has gone through its share of changes and ups and downs over time. Work levels can fluctuate depending on industry demand, but if you understand and manage those cycles, it remains a solid and secure place to work.
One of the strongest indicators of the company’s stability is the number of long-term employees, many people have built lasting careers here, which speaks volumes about the work environment and overall culture.
Overall, Northern Mat offers a dependable workplace with strong roots, and I would be happy to continue growing my career here with the goal of retiring one day.

Good company. It was just wrong place and time for me and my family. Was a great experience. I was hired on as part time to set up parts and maintenance and never got help when I needed it. The company was growing so fast the parts was my priority and was looked after as well as looking after the maintenance. The paper work fell behind as impossible for one person to do it all. I feel they have it all under control now. It has been five years and they have moved and hired more people & have a lot better facilities to work with. Truly a good company.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Everyone works together as a team. All managers I’ve worked under have been very accommodating with work/life balance.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Parts of my job are stressful throughout the month. But there is always someone there willing to listen and talk/figure things out.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment is generally positive. The office life/chats are fun and feel like family. The culture took a dip a few years ago but is making an upward trend.

I have worked for Northern Mat and Bridge for almost two years now and it has enabled me to travel all over western Canada working in a career that I fought hard to get in to. I am happy to be a part of this company. Throughout my time with this company I was able to begin my journey towards CRSP designation and allowed me to already learn so much about safety culture that I have never expected. Hardest part of my job is the Bud to Boss mentality that is extremely important to have a grasp on. The most enjoyable part of my job is travelling to different places.
