What is the best part of working at the company?
In NSI I found a great group of awesome people! The work environment is very good, and my colleagues are very kind. The company looks after the well-being of its employees and has always been a great support both professionally and personally for many of us.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
In my experience, the most stressful part of this job is getting all the supplies on time, but this issue is more related to the weather during the winter months.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
NSI has a great work environment and a culture of mutual help and collaboration, always striving to put employee safety first.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
We can always count on a warm greeting from my colleagues and a peaceful atmosphere. During the day, you can see the friendship and values among everyone in the office.

Staff and management at Northside are all really good people who want to support growth in the company. The social committee and management put together several events per year as appreciation for the hard working staff. The company does a great job of taking care of their employees through schedule flexibility, plenty of training opportunities, and even smaller things, like supplying turkeys to staff for Christmas and taking the time to and funds to promote initiatives such as cancer awareness. Overall a company that has a strong caring culture, and a group focus on achievement.

A typical day at work is fast paced but pretty laid back. We work listening to music all day while working and it's a definite highlight. While I was there we had a great group of guys working in the john deere section, j brackets and bumpers. But Northside has some big problems.

 1. Management does not listen to their workers who are on the floor working.
2. The pay is very low for a skilled trade, possibly the lowest in Kelowna for welding. Makes you wonder what you are even working for when you can barely afford rent.
3. Management lies about raises and will totally forget about you unless you confront them.


Been at Northside for 6 month with a working visa.
As a French I was really well integrated into the company and team. With my CNC Operator background I learned to work on a brake press. 
That’s not the perfect place to work but everyone there is making everything si it becomes this kind of place. 
If you like to stay active and let your day fly by, that’s the place you want to go. Everyone is kind and welcoming to any type of request, the CEO is always ready to listen to you. Managers are more coworkers and always try to do their best to solve any issue.
Enjoyed a lot the event for work satisfaction! In 6 month, we had 4 lunch!

Overall it's not a bad place to work.  They have several very good welders, many of which are just happy to work for a few more year until retirement.  Some of the management leaves something to be desired.  Playing favorites, not getting involved in disputes when required, and playing on the internet rather then dealing with some problems that arise.  They have high Quality standards, and while their reputation by word of mouth in the Okanagan isn't exactly what I imagine they would like, they are worth a look.

Last year, production leadership took a bit of a dive. We lost a lot of good people, and morale definitely dropped. It’s not as positive here as it used to be, and the current leadership hasn’t helped much.

The pay’s on the lower end for the work we do, which was fine when the environment was better. Now, it feels like people are less engaged and things are more challenging.

There’s new work on the horizon and company growth looks promising, but the future will really depend on improving leadership

A typical day was full of heavy lifting and machine operation and maintenance.  My coworkers at Northside were fantastic, everyone got along well and tried to help others when they were able.  While working there I learned to operate a brake press, a laser, a water-jet and numerous other small/ medium machines.  Hardest part of the job was meeting unreasonable timelines with machines that were finicky at best.  Most enjoyable part of the job (for me) was staying active throughout the shift, time would just fly by.

Recently Northside has been sold to new owners too early to know what changes will be made.
From what information we have received as employees some great improvements will soon be made to the work environment.
Most enjoyable part of working their is when we receive challenging  prototype projects.

Work is repetitive and boring. Management is borderline incompetent. The QA system here is awful. It shouldn't even qualify for ISO certification. They give some people the ability sign off on their own work, but don't really have systemic plan in place for it. Above all else the pay is the worst in the valley. 

the technology that I used  while working was very interesting.  though I can't speak about  the tech because of contract and also in its early phases. 

working there was a blast even when, like most small companies, there are some rough patches but nothing that can't be handle
