Very busy environment. Management has recently changed by replacing mostly educated professionals in key positions had improved the company culture so that the employees are weighed by their contribution and merit not on any other political plays.
Hardest part of the job is the communication and coordination between the inter departments is very difficult. Enjoyable part is the solution to the manufacturing problems

Planning day work, attend corporate WEBEX and plant meetings, Identifying CI initiatives, Preparing for Kaizen events, Following up on Kaizen actions, Coordinate with customer Supplier Development Team, Crunching Quality and Performance data to identify CI opportunities, Motivate plant work force to identify and eliminate waste and maintain an orderly/disciplined work place, engage with TPM planning, etc.

The people who I worked with. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working with 240-600v electricity and troubleshooting. I'm not an electrician. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good. Friendly environment and people. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy fast paced. But not to much  pressure.

Typical day would be to located the priority 1 jobs . Locate all the inspection paperwork , drawing, test results always hunting looking for all the tools for the job. Another issue is chasing paperwork not filed properly.  The place is very unorganized operators are always miss placing routers. Management & union do not work together. High turn over with employees :(

Setup and operate CNC lathes. Produce high quality parts within tight tolerances. Keeping my mind and eyes on task.Management was very helpful and knowledgable. Workmates were knowledgable and helpful.The hardest part of the job was the machining of large parts.The most enjoyable part of the job was completing parts within tolerances and required time limit.

Poor management team overall
Poor plant management and HR Manager favours the union and the union does not help employees. Good hourly staff, but no proper training plan to give new EE’s a fair chance to learn. 

I enjoyed working there until an encounter with one of the shop managers. refusing to do overtime should not be a ground to be sent home.I don not mind doing OT, only that time I had a planed activity. not a team player and definitely not a good boss to work with. every thing in that company is good but not him.

Skillful, knowledgeable and well recognized work force in the Aerospace industry. Northstar has a long history dated back from Spar Aerospace supplying components and critical gears to major aerospace companies.

Full Ontario Manufacturing life cycle, expansion, sales, relocation, new product lines, old retired product lines, bankruptcy, private equity ownership, expansion, risky production focus, loss of contract, plant closure. Can do it all.

Very high skill level of employees. Poor management and stifling, office politics. Lack of chance of advancement. Management focused on self interests only with exceptions.
