I work on a Rehabilitation floor at Cobourg Hospital. I absolutely love working there. It is a 30- 40 minute drive for me, I wish it was closer. I  don't mind commuting though. I love the people at the hospital they are so friendly and inviting. Management has been making some changes and trying to make the environment more positive and to support our workplace practices to make it a more positive and stress-free environment. I really love the hospital setting and how it is like a tight-knit community of people. You really become close to the people you work with and begin to feel like a family. I have nothing but positive things to say about my workplace. I enjoy it very much working there as an RPN, and would love to further my career as an RPN working as a scrub nurse.

* mental health student Monday to Friday 
* Contacted clients to book intake assessments as well as performing intake assessments
* Worked with the ACT team visiting clients in their homes and helping with medication management was well as activities of daily living
* Most enjoyable part was seeing clients recover and become mentally well, the hardest part was seeing clients who were not benefiting from medication and start to deteriorate
* The staff were all very welcoming and eager to share their knowledge with me as a student
* I gained an immense amount of knowledge about the mental health system, interventions, and the importance of professional rapport with clients and their families

Northumberland Hills Hospital is a great place for new graduates to gain knowledge and improve their skills. They offer excellent preceptorship, and the management, including the clinical educator and scholars, is very supportive and resourceful. The workplace culture is positive, with friendly and helpful coworkers. While the fast-paced environment can be challenging, the collaborative team and learning opportunities make it a rewarding experience.

Appreciation for a job well done and nice work environment.  Worked there 21 years and always recieved recognition.

Sometimes the people you work with are unkind and not very understanding.

Great company to work for. You are part of a union and that is very valuable. You recieve great benefits and pension

Greetings.  Work. Support. Greetings.  Go home

Nothing positive to report. No support, constant calls to pick up shifts, always short staffed.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No support, constantly scheduled  to switch back and forth from days to nights. No team atmosphere. Unable to retain staff.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Extremely poor. No support and toxic work environment.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Chaotic. No breaks and rude staff. Unsafe environment.

I loved my NHH family. Great atmosphere, co-workers and patients received top notch care. Difficult to get full-time work as the positions are held until retirement and small hospital in a growing community. I learned that when you try to succeed you will succeed. I worked part-time and learned almost all aspects of reception/ward clerk duties in the hospital. I met a lot of dedicated, hard working Drs, nurses, support services and worked hard to contribute to the success of patient care.

Ward Clerk duties - admissions, discharges, order entry, transportation booking etc.
Nurses and staff are all so helpful. Management can be lacking support at times, and staffing can be a pain when they are unwilling to work with your availability. 
Even if you are hired Part-Time, you basically have to be available for Full-Time hours if you want to be given a fair amount of shifts within the pay period.

Very friendly and cultural community. People work very hard despite financial struggles. 

I am responsible for the smooth day-to-day operations of all system functions for Northumberland Hills Hospital and it's affiliates including, Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation, Partners Advancing Transitions In Healthcare (PATH), and Northumberland Hills Hospital Community Mental Health Services.

After finishing my Laboratory Technician course I spent a 6 week job placement with this hospital. I learned so much from them and I was able to have complete hands on with all the different areas of a technician. Phlebotomy and microbiology, chemistry and hematology departments.

I would have loved to gain a position.

Excellent nursing staff who work very hard and are underappreciated and unsupported by terrible incompetent management daily.   Too many schedulers not communicating and making constant scheduling errors.
