I like to start from an organized view to the days challenges.  Keeping a working journal is helpful on a daily basis.  I have learned to work independently as well as in cooperation with others in an efficient manner.  There are many details associated with being a mortgage broker or for that matter any responsible job and they must be done painstakingly and perfected always with a mind to complete client satisfaction.  The most important thing today is customer service.

I was a Mortgage Agent . Had to obtain my Mortgage Agent Licence. Took a course. Passed. Employed under Northwood Brokerage as an agent. Acted as an  Independent contractor. No base pay only straight commission. No benifits. Management promised leads but none forthcoming. Worked independently other agents fine. Large turnover of agents. Difficult to get clients.

Good established brokerage with very competitive rates. Like any 100% commission role, it is what you make of it. Work and thrive, or sleep and starve. There is an inside sales and an outside sales option. Inside sales option is pretty useless as the leads are not quality and not a fair trade off for the commission you have to give up. 

Leads and support are provided for those willing to work hard. Great company with weekly sales and lender meetings, keeps us in the loop daily on special rates and update. Highly recommend Northwood Mortgage to start your career.

Good underwriting support helps make sure your deals are done properly for submission. This was something missing in my previous brokerages. They also do private lending with lots of connections.

Its been a good time and learning experience.

Take long time to process the application for client

Being able to balance work and personal life. Making ones own schedule was convenient. The staff was very easy to work with and always willing to help when needed.

You come and go as you please.  Minor training is provided by one person however when needed they are not always available.  No Communication between trainer and underwriters.

I gave salary/benefits 5 stars because of the high potential to make a great living.
Job security is a 1 star because its up to you to make it *******

Good office, friendly staff. 
office is big with a lot of staff that makes the management busy all the time. There are pros and cons in having that many agents of course .  good weekly meetings.
