A typical day of work this past summer included; researching/organizing housing quit claims. Attending council meetings and summarizing for Policy manager. Many other tasks involving Excel.
I learned many things about what goes into a government corporation and what is trying to be achieved by these corporations.
Management and co-workers provided assistance with any question that I might have had. 
The hardest part of the job was the long hours researching housing quit claims in the Nunavut database, and summarizing these quit claims into an Excel file.
The most enjoyable part of my job was the people that I had the privilege of working with. The atmosphere, and the first-hand experience they provided me with for future jobs.

The days were full with managing multiple sub trades and related questions and concerns. Weekly safety meetings helped me to assess job progress and general staff moral. Support from management was reasonable but as a government run organisation it lacked in certain areas of support. My co-workers were awesome, very co-operative when various requests were made of them. The hardest part of the job was obtaining quotes / delivery of needed materials from Northern suppliers. The most enjoyable part of my job was working with the local Inuit workers, getting to know them and learning about their traditional cultures.

A typical day was that I would show up earlier than everyone, start my day immediately. Get any work I couldn't finish the previous day done first. Reply to e-mails. Then the staff would arrive and the new workload began.  I learned that organization is key to getting work done in a timely manner and that no matter what was thrown at me I would give my all to everything. The workplace culture was tense at times, whoever that did not distract me from my work. For me, the hardest part of the job were the slow days when I was caught up on my work or a lot of the staff was out of town so I wouldn't have a lot of meaningful tasks to do. However, the most enjoyable part of the job was loving what I did because it challenged me to think outside of the box and be creative in an otherwise uncreative atmosphere.

Employees would not show up for work after paid 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Good work environment and the culture is great with all the Inuit wanting to learn a trade 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Mechanical checks  service calls and preventative maintenance keep busy days go by fast

Most of the people who work here a super nice, helpful, eager to please. My job includes all Major Works Requests for Tenders. These tenders are multimillions of dollars and care must be taken to manage them from start to finish.

A typical day would include arriving at work early to have a coffee with the group. Then having a job safety meeting and assigning tasks to be completed. Filling out the proper forms for the day and then checking on the work done. Reporting any problems back to the supervisor.

I didn't learn anything from this job. The work culture was very stressful.  Management tried very hard to keep employees seporate. Management at that time was also unkind to union employees.  Co-worker were kind and thoughtful.

It is a good company. The company is employee-centric and provides tangible benefits to the people of Nunavut. There are homeownership programs that enable people to own their own homes.

A wonderful place to work. Management very suppurative. Good wage and vacation. Work 9am to 5am. Developed many management skills. Loved working with the Inuit. Amazing people
