Currently employed with OHE Consultants, I have extensive experience in environmental consulting field as well as project management. In my present role as a project consultant, I enjoy the responsibility of helping to lead a small development team and seeing projects through from conception to delivery in environmental assessment. 

On daily bases, I am involved in conducting environmental assessment Phase I and Phase II as well as waste management coordination. I also carry out field work for soil and ground water sampling and remediation processes. Through my past employment, I have conducted several projects associated with preparing reports and reviewing federal, provincial and local regulatory requirements in ensuring environmental compliance for environmental site assessment.  My scientific report writing skills have highlighted the importance of being methodical, accurate and complying with regulatory standards.

The most enjoyable part of my job is that I am always involved with different projects based on different case scenarios. I love dealing with my coworkers as I get along really well with all of my colleagues.

I learned project management by effectively managing my projects besides field work and report writing and demanding deadlines. I also learned strong organizational skills as sampling techniques involve strong organization in order to be accurate. I also learned to be very detail oriented specifically in report writing on environmental assessment. 

The hardest part of my job involves travelling long distances to different areas in order to conduct field assessment.

Overall it is a great place to work. Managers and Senior Managers are very knowledgeable. They are quite helpful with when it comes to getting advice for getting the job done properly. Over the years, there have been changes of corporate practices but that is a given considering how competitive the industry is.

Having said that, the consulting industry is quite demanding. You will have very little work-life balance in this industry. OHE Consultants will try to accommodate you as much as possible but you do have to realize, they are not here to babysit you.

Have a pleasant outlook, you cannot expect to make a ton of money working in this industry. Have realistic expectations. Salary is on par with the industry standards for smaller consulting companies.

I'll keep this simple and in an easy to understand format:

Pros:
- Company BBQs in the summer (2-3/summer)
- Involvement in literally ALL aspects of the work. 

Cons:
- Slow/Dated technology (they still use Blackberries with the keyboards lol) and very slow/old laptops. No VPNs. AutoCAD is on a suuuuuper slow desktop computer.
- Poor offices/unhygienic work environment. Carpeted floors. Old office with old, think 80s Office Space style cubicles.
- Lack of training.
- 2 sick days (provincial minimum)
- Forced Xmas Shutdown (5 vacation days)
- No Work From Home.
- Forced daily 830am meetings to stroke Owner's huge Ego.
- Very Poor OT policy. 
- Micromanaging accountant. Will deduct 2 cents from your mileage expense so it looks like he's doing work.
- Sr. Manager is preoccupied and not involved in day-to-day activities. 
- Very tight budgets. 

Seriously, stay away. You deserve better.

Bad management, turnover is ridiculous, training needs improvement, safety is not a main concern, long hours and a lot of travel time (sometimes last minute notice). You need to work 16 hours extra after the 40 hours before you can get paid over time. Example: If you work 40 hours + 17 hours, you get paid for the 1 hour. No other consulting firm that do that. You cannot work at home even if there is a storm/really snowy day, you will need to be at the office or take a vacation day.  Morning meetings at 8:30 am, timesheet to be completed every day by 830 or you get locked out from the terrible TAGS program.

Not much to say about this place other than what has already been said.

You are underpaid, overworked, and forced to come to the office to take part in company politics.

If you're deciding between this place and some other similar consulting companies, take the other ones. I guarantee you will have made the right call.

Too much interference in project activities by clueless administration. 

Cons:
Heavy handed approach to employees from admin staff resulting in low morale, high employee turnover rate. Bonuses are routinely missed with no explanation. 

Lack of training allowances, OT policy benefits employer, Forced Christmas shutdown (made to use vacation days). No working from home. Tight budgets. 

Pros:
Lots of work, you get to experience all stages of project work, wide variety of projects.

Stressful working environment with relative low pay and poor OT policy make it even worst place to work,Low budget projects two person job is done by one person

Certain projects I had to work from scratch rather than having existing drawings to be changed in the computer with AutoCAD. This position made me learn how to manage my time wisely with multiple projects at the same time. Most enjoyable part of this job was that I learned new aspects of the computer program along the way with new projects and drawings.

daily meetings, site visits and reporting. meetings with PMs, reviewed  reports, drawings, prepared for next day work. Quiet place in general , company focused on people getting work done and not just a place to chat all day. It was a good structured place if you like structure.

If someone did not have work they managers would find you work.

Hardest oart of the job is when a Senior Manager undermines your capabilities
