I didn't have a lot of experience when I started but training was provided. Being new to rail I find that my coworkers are always helpful even if I have a dumb question. Management does push you to do your best and work. There's  hard days like any job but overtime and bonuses make it worth it. Recent changes with management have made a big improvement lately and seems like everyone wants to head in the right direction. There's always support or advice available from managers in every department. Anyone who can't work as a team doesn't last long here. I've gotten to do a lot of different work with this job and been to places I would have never been. It's always pretty fast paced and everyday is different. I've also never had managers as understanding as my managers here. I've had personal/serious things come up and they are very accomodating/flexible. Seen it with my coworkers too, just shows that everyone does care. Lots of good people and other small perks that show employee appreciation. 

Not a fun place to work. Everything the ad states is true...but not as advertised. Heres an example; they states they have a air make up ventilation system. True, however if you turn it on you will be told to turn it off cause its too expensive to run.  That newly expanded shop they brag about is actually the welder’s shop and he will be very upset if you even just walk/cut across “his shop”, but dont worry, you will not be aware of him being upset as he’ll just complain to other about you.  You like paying a small fee for clean coveralls?  Perfect cause this company will charge you.  I also loved how the owner would bring his personal toys in the shop and leave them there.  Kind of a constant reminder on how much money I was making him.  I could go on, but in a nut shell...only apply to this place if you....actually I cannot think of a reason now.  I only worked there because it was the only job that would hire me in that economic down turn we had.

I learned more in the almost 5 years I spent here than I did the previous decade. The opportunities and experience I gained here are one of the main reasons I’ve seen my career prosper since. I would definitely go back in the future if life throws me the right cards. I always felt like I was going to hang out with my buddies not just going to work. I’ve maintained friendships that I started at on-track that I’m certain will be life long. The industry tends to attract some unsavory types and they seem to feel the need to take it out in indeed reviews. But my experience was one of learning, career growth and fun. I watched them bend over backwards, to help employees when life threw a curve ball several time and was fortunate enough to have them do that for myself.

Terribly managed from top to bottom. Leadership is completely disconnected, communication is nonexistent, and management constantly makes poor decisions that create unnecessary problems for everyone. Instead of supporting workers, they blame staff for issues caused by their own incompetence. Employees are expected to work hard and deal with constant disorganization.

Pay is less than average, morale is terrible, turnover is extremely high, and it’s obvious why people don’t stay here long.

Pay is not a liveable wage with inflation and they refuse raises  Wake up other companies are paying more 

Work life balance is non existent you are expected to be on call 24/7 and head out into the field with no notice 

Management is a mess owner doesn’t seem to really be involved in the business 

Field supervisors are rude and hard to deal 

Highest turnover I’ve ever seen 

You will only get promoted if you’re weekend buddies with the right people not because you work hard and earned it. Good employees go unnoticed. Bad employees get promoted with large raises and are never held accountable. 
If you apart of the upper management Fav 5 you are set, you will get all the perks. If you are not you’ll be treated less than. 

 

Equipment  leave the shop defective and the operator is expected to deal with it on the road very bad practices . Management  is always after the operators blaming them for equipment  failures 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing really. Management was horrible and didn’t pay staff what they are worth. They give you more and more work

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Expecting to work from home and deal with my kids and work 12 hr days

Great job nice trucks terrible management no organization trucks in need of repairs hard to get shop to fix. Penny pinching over parts cost over buying OEM Parts   Policies and procedures are there to protect the employer from liabilities not the employees 

Plenty of opportunity for growth and lots of support from supervision. You definitely feel like part of a team at work as days go by smooth. You will continually learn new things as there is a large scope of work.
