Management needs to step up and bring in more work in to the shop.Considering that openroad is one of the largest auto groups in BC but they still can't manage to bring in enough work into the shops.Need to hire more staff to help with production because the production person has to many responsibilities to handle.The main job of the production person should be to stay in the shop at all times and evenly distribute work to all techs and to get jobs in and out in a timely manner.Also need to hire a parts reciver to better manage the parts department to check parts thoroughly.Another issue with this company is that they are not transparent with their employees about new staff members coming in or quiting or getting transfered or going on vacation or any future plans they might have for the company.As a body tech here I have been making under 160 hours flate rate because of how the shop runs .The estimators work against the body man to cut repair time down and don't want to do certain R&I's even though u explain the repair process thoroughly.Not worth being flate rate here go hourly or salary.Regarding luxury vehicle's don't get many here very rare tesla & BMW certified and even though u are certified person you still don't get to work on them.

Openroad auto group is the worst auto group in Canada. They do not recognize the efforts of their hard working employees, and instead promote “yes” men and other individuals who’s sole purpose is to over work you, under pay you, and take all the credit for everything you do as their own. I single handily fixed my department, and the upper management gave all credit and recognition to my manager, who couldn’t even handle the absolute basics. They will never give you a raise unless you’re scraping the minimum wage line, and they will try to dress up your pay plan to look like a big number, but in reality their projections are down right lies. They expect you to beat budget by 20-25% to make what you should earn for hitting budget. Everyone in upper management exists solely to take as much from their staff as possible. The GM’s in each dealer go on lavish vacations quarterly while the staff that earned the money for the company in the first place will go years without a raise.

Stay away. It’s career suicide. Literally any other dealer/group is a better choice.



Openroad Lexus Richmond is as professional as they come. State of the art building combined with products that sells itself, it is certainly a place to make money. 

Openroad Lexus Richmond have given me invaluable experience in both work and life, ensuring me what my ultimate goals are and how to deal with certain things in difficult situations. 

Extremely friendly and professional colleagues. Providing a less stressful environment. 

Hardest part about my job was to get used to using a dated CRM system which is Dealer Socket, as I was using One-Eighty my whole career. Not a very user friendly and efficient system, was not able to do quotes, check inventory and way too complex in general. 

Overall Openroad Lexus Richmond is a great place to work and establish a career, a little more training would've been ideal. Benefits is a strong trait of the organization, as well as reputation and exposure. It certainly does attract a ton of walk-in traffic being at a prime location in the Richmond Auto Mall.

I say “team players” in quotes because they tout everyone being just that but in reality it’s because they work everyone to the bone. Those that are, are only there working overtime because they pay so bad, to make ends meet. 

 The service and parts managers fight continuously which makes for a very toxic work environment so be warned. The way they talk to their employees is disgraceful and rude. ( name calling, cussed at, making fun of skills or lack of) No one should be talked down to no matter what, injury or whatever. 

This “hustle” culture they’ve established is a joke that they use to exploit their workers lives ( which you won’t have if you work here ) they expect you to work more than 8 hours on salary to be a “team player”. Expect to work 9+ hours a day because they have to give you half an hour unpaid lunch so they expect you work an extra half hour to make up for the time you weren’t on the floor. 

The feeling from management is no mingling or talking with your fellow employees other than work related stuff. Laughing is frowned upon. You will get yelled at for “slacking off” if they hear anything like this. 

Many years ago it was well known among us employees that the upper manager's paid their way onto the "BC's top 50 employers" list.
A survey was sent to all employee's and when the results came back disappointing for the management, a second secret survey went out to a few select employee's. Next thing you know, we're on the list. Some time go by and those employee's are moving up the ladder.

They advertise that they are a top employer but really no better or different than any other dealer group.
Managers would gloat how well sales and service numbers would be. Employee's would ask about a raise pointing to the fact is was well over a year since our last. The answer is "we must remain competitive"
I was in the service part of the dealership working flat rate. I'm glad i spent time there to understand how bad and toxic it is to be at a dealer and to know what "top employer" truly looks like

Decent place to work if you’re a hard worker & not a slacker. There’s a reason why they are non union. If you’re a good worker they will generally pay you more after you prove yourself & not the  other way around! Overall in my opinion the company’s a bit on the “cheap side” but there’s worst out there. Benefits overall suck too. But discounts on automotive related are ok even tho the sales/service dept will still stiff you unless you know them well. I’m working there as I’m closing into retirement, so it’s not for the long haul. For ppl in their 20s might be ok as a stepping stone resume builder into something better unless you really have a love for the automotive industry & want to advance further with the company but unless it’s into much higher positions or mgmt pay prolly not great.

Unfortunately this job does not pay enough for the stress you will endure. Sadly the stress comes from the racist & patronizing staff members, not the customers. 

I regret this job! Pays terrible minimal wage, you'll be forced to listen to your co-workers lie to customers, to each other, racial profile customers and other staff members, and talk about you in different languages.  

Sadly I'm not the only person who recognizes this problem in the Richmond locations. Mechanics, Service & Sales staff also mention that this on going problem has been happening for many years. 

Beware of the Cobra! Yes she's a crazy staff member, a condescending woman, who will belittle you, gossip & try to damage your job... she will get away with it because of her seniority. 

You were warned, don't work for this company its not worth it.

As a Valet at Richmond Honda I was tasked primarily to perform alignment check with Hunter's quick-check machine. The job itself is not difficult by any means. However, I felt I was being micro-managed. I was torn by both management and coworkers as they had polar opposite opinions of how the department should be run. I felt I was playing a balancing act between keeping my service advisers happy, and meeting the very high quota given by my manager. Within the lot staff, I have seen a lot of turnovers and I feel it is due to a mixture of unmotivated lot staff and the inconsiderate feeling the manager gives off. What has kept me working here was my easy-going coworkers, the relatively high pay and the opportunity to use the shop after hours.

I had the worst experience working as a  Lot Associate in Open Road Mazda Port Moody(BC). 

Lack of management discipline and non cooperative coworkers were my main reasons to quit the job after 3 days. They were unprofessional and were treating a new member disrespectfully. Senior members did nothing actually and they were expecting the new member work as a Robot.

There was no clear instructions about each person's duty and responsibility. They didn't even provide clear instruction how they calculate your working time as they didn't even providing the punching card for me. This dealership has the worst management ever.

I worked for Openroad for almost 4 years. I was a technician at 2 of their stores. I appreciated being able to move within the group to a new dealership when I moved house. My time at the 1st store was incredibly positive. Management wanted us technicians to succeed and in turn we wanted them to succeed. The work culture was very positive and it truly felt like a family. The second store I worked at was entirely different. Within the shop things were mostly positive; however, it was very divided. There was no consistency from management as to what the expectations of integrity from the technicians were leading to exploitation from a few. Without going too in depth I can say that some people within the group are great but others are toxic.
