Orion has been a great company to work for, everyone works as a team.  Everyone from the owner down  were always willing to help with any questions more then fair when it came to explaining what was required of employees. Safety is their top priority and safety manager is there is answer any safety related questions that may come up even if after hours.  I would recommend this company, to anyone,  they are a very reputable company in the field and are extremely busy compared to other hydro vac companies.   Equipment is top notch with having brand new trucks and the older fleet is kept in very good condition.  Everyone in office and in field are very good to deal with.  They supply all PPE other than boots, safety courses are paid for.  They even pay for new hire safety courses, as what they did for me as I am missing a couple.  Very family orientated compnay, family is number one for them. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
New management has poor people and communicating skills. 
Sadly sleeping with a subordinate that he immediately promoted to supervisor. 
Reactive instead of proactive management is systemic in middle management. 
I suggested a proper training and mentoring program but was told it not feasible. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Poor communication from operations officer 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Becoming quite toxic under new Operations manager. His personal life is in turmoil and he brings that energy into the work place. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long as equipment is working properly and there is no need to ask for assistance from operations it is a good day.

Horrible place to work, steer clear. Worked way over labor standard hours and dealt with an operator falling asleep while driving after 48 hours with only 3 hours of sleep. Got shorted on every single cheque I made there and they wanted to give cut "shop" rates for travel and driving hours, and say that it doesnt count towards working so we can work some more at another location at night after we worked over 16 hours in the day.

Good work practices and safety procedures are always a priority in the shop and in the field. Everybody has a job to do and seems to work well, communication is not always the best but that’s normal for a large and busy oilfield company. Owners are nice people who care about their employees. Would recommend to anyone that wants to stay somewhere long term.

I Worked here for a number of years . At first it was great, work was busy. I worked hard and my decisions and input was valued. 
 Changes within company and economy caused things to be scaled back. Shop tools weren't available when needed and work was sent out for repairs instead of being done in our shop.  Being micromanaged and constantly on call became very taxing on my well  being so I left.
 I got one raise in pay in the time I worked  there and it was taken back.

   
 

i worked there few years back for the old owners who were awesome too me and the rest of the crew in my opinion can really say much about the new current ones but from what i heard little has changed so in that regard it should still be a awesome place too work with lots of hours and decent equipment

When there's work hours and days can get maxed out. Make money while there's work. 
They are currently struggling but who isn't. 
Be professional and work smart and you will be appreciated. 
Benefits aren't the best but are standard for the times.
Whenever I had concerns I would go to management and they would help me in getting them addressed. 

I worked at Orion for a few years and only left for another opportunity I wanted to follow. The owners are great people. I find it funny to read the negative reviews from some people. You only get out of a job what you put in. Sounds to me like some green hands that didnt realize what the oil patch was about when they started just couldnt hack it and now want to defame the company.

If you want some experience it’s a great place to work.  If you can get used to being treated like a number by management , getting blamed for any little thing that goes wrong, being on a different truck everyday and cleaning out wash cars and dumping it illegally in the yard have at it.

I enjoy working for this company you couldn’t ask for a better manager he is fair and treats everyone with respect and decency. There is room for advancement. And the office staff goes the extra mile to really help a person out any way they can.
