I worked as a University co-op student in R&D and found it to be a challenging and rewarding experience. I helped R&D staff in almost every step of the R&D process from preparation to testing of products and more. It was a relaxed but professional and challenging workplace where work got done in an efficient manner.  My boss was great, he was calm and casual but also very professional and knowledgeable. My Co-workers were very similar, friendly people who were great to work with but still the job done. I had many opportunities to learn the ins and outs of the industry and had opportunities to work independently. Numerous considerations and accomodations were made towards my academics and work-life balance. Pay was very good for a co-op student, as well, had I stayed longer there were numerous benefits. I got experience in a laboratory, office and industrial setting with their respective tools. The hardest part personally was a commute from Guelph, for other this is certainly not a job for anyone who is squeamish towards the raw meats and the processing of raw meats (there is NO slaughtering at this plant). Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable, engaging and rewarding experience and work environment.

Good benefits and payment. But you have to be a hard worker. 
Are some good workers, really who work hard and team focus ... but are others  that work for many  years and you can not understand how they still here!. Seems like the company does not care to see who is who on the production floor. Many changes in upper managememt hopefully for good. This company needs a "new blood" in some aspects they still run the company like in the 80s and a lot of workers with 20, 30, 40 years of service close to retirenment. 
But still a good place, most friendly co workers, supervisors are easy going to. And some days are tough but other realexed. 
Discounted meat and you are not forced to overtime or extra hours training or activities. 

Long Boring and slow / half the time you're standing there having to wait and if it is not that you're lifting 30kg blocks of frozen meat 6 about your head.  Little to no training , the led would direct you in the worst direction almost everyday making you have to unload any where from 8,000-20,000kg of frozen meat to have it thaw out and have to put it all back into tokea because there is to much yet you were instructed to pull X amount. The place felt like it had no direction what so ever and was honestly a very un organized from not having the right meat for the recipes to not knowing what is needed. Overall you'll find some decent people to work with but the long run does not feel worth it many people had come and go since I worked in 6 months.

Maintenance team is well structured and organized. Equipment and machinery is relatively modern and there is a clean work environment. Each maintenance member has a certain amount of freedom to approach problems from their own angle (i.e. parts ordering, fabricating, installs). Company culture is amazing (free giveaways, lunches, events) and the work to life balance is relatively even. Do expect to work weekends for shift coverages. The work environment is cold but not unenjoyable. Wages are pretty industry standard, as well as benefits and pension and heavy food purchase discount. If you are a skilled tradesman with some common sense you wouldn't have a problem excelling here.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Work as production operator. Working in the production lines, machines, palette organizing, assisting the machine operators and operating the peeling machine. Moving finish products from the storage to the production line.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When the computer is down and the line still running in  full blast with high volume of production.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The company is operating in multi cultural environment.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Afternoons of Monday to Friday.

-supervisor and upper management push to increase output levels on the work floor causing a lot of mistakes with the end product and increasing chances of staff receiving disciplinary action
-disciplinary action is easily attainable at the job or if certain people have a close relationship with the superiors it’s a fast track to being let go
-most senior staff have a  negative attitude towards the job causing a unhappy workplace
-some production staff do thrive in knowing other peoples personal lives to use as gossip at work
-no money worth the amount of work placed on you as an employee, the endless expectations and pressure. 

My typical work day begins with a nice fresh coffee from work, FOR FREE. Every day is another day I feel blessed and fortunate to work at a company that gives so much back to their employees. Raffles, giveaways, and even free lunch occasionally. My experience here has overall been a positive one, and if we're being honest, the best workplace i've ever been at. I will say though, at first things can get pretty fast paced and you need to be a quick learner. Once you get your feet wet, everything feels like a breeze.

I worked at pillars for a couple months at the brantford location and the people there are amazing, everyone is super helpful and overly nice. The `HRs are extremely helpful and very nice. The only complaint I have is the morning shifts get annoying to start very early and the job itself is very boring and repetitive but you do rotate positions every half hour or so. The place is also setup for shorter people so anyone 5 10 and up will feel it in their backs.  

Initially hired for a 5 month contract but let go before my 3 months . Had a ton of people working through temp services all expecting to have a chance to be hired on if they work hard , they were told there were no jobs and wouldn’t be returning an hour before the end of their shift . They bring in a lot of people for the Christmas rush . They should say it’s a seasonal job and not play games with people . It’s a very cold environment so it’s draining because your body is using energy to keep warm . I would never recommend this place .

We need a new facility to store all the equipment.

Work environment is good most of the people are happy to come to work, ready to get going. Lots of culture, people from different parts.of the world.

Typical day for me is busy, lots to do. Help out each other. Line support, shipping, receiving
