Do you wanna be fear mongered for your job everyday and be paid minimum wage (in electrician standards) at the same time?
Oh boy, do you ever wanna work here.
With the most inept management in the world,  and dumpster fire of a leadership team, you won't have a clue what your doing here most of the time.
Be ready  to have long, drawn out pointless days ahead you, with very little direction. 
If you can last more than week here, without contemplating your own life choices, good on you. But picture this, suddenly, one day, after putting what anyone would consider a decent hard days work, and having a 3 hour unpaid travel day just to get to work, without any written or verbal warnings what-so-ever, you're let go by your incompetent "forman", letting you know your services are no longer required. Why you ask? Well maybe because you weren't the right fit for this company.
But, would they know that? No, because they fill their staff with phone hires with no interview to speak of. Why? Just to hemorrhage money from main contractors for paid men on site. Wow. Ethics.
If this sounds like the place for you, good on ya. Please pad you wallets, to your hearts content. For anyone else who has goals in their life, pretend this place is Covid 19 incarnat, and stay away.
I do not recommend this place.


Pros -
- decent money when it's busy and you're running ot
-mostly low pressure work and nice people
- Very good day shift supervisor who is flexible if you need to leave early for an appointment or if something bad comes up
-good about letting you take vacation 
- QC is easy to work with and will take the time to go over calls with you 

Cons- 
- Very low Journeynan rate compared to standards
- almost every piece of equipment is broken
-The shop Foreman is a lunatic who's runs around head hunting and threatening employees during morning meetings
- No raises even after two years, more tickets etc
- They don't provide anything ... Cover all's , Grinders , Battery's , Extension cords is all on you... Surprised you don't have to bring toilet paper tbh
- 5 Am starts when working OT... So you have no life during the week or you're always working on very low sleep.
- One washroom that is a long stairway up and literally a km from your work area
- 5 microwaves to 40 guys
-Dangerous work on 12 ft ladders with no fall arrest... Crane bump sensors don't work .


Worked for PTW for nearly 3 years in qaqc and maintenance. It can be a pretty decent gig for a hockey bro or if you're willing to do unspeakable things to be part of the boys' club. Do not expect to be promoted or recognized in anyway if you are outside of the cool kids group.
During my time, I worked for one of the best superintendents I've ever had in the course of my 15 years in the electrical industry, but also some of the worst foremen - who seemed to get off on tormenting their crews with the threat of layoffs.  
PTW is a clac company, which comes with a host of problems. I was laid off at the start of the pandemic, was told it was be temporary, but my ROE did not reflect that, and the union would not do anything to fight it when the company did not follow the rules within the collective agreement. Pretty disappointing. 
Pay was average, but PTW was among the first to cut wages over covid, and it's going to be a long road back to where they were. 


Most of the on site management, and the guys in the field are great to work with. The upper management tends to do anything they can to pinch a penny, usually taking it out of the field workers pockets; An hour of OT banked and paid out as straight time; an HSE spending account rather than real benefits; supplying coveralls, at a cost, to the worker on a site where coveralls are mandatory; being unwilling to pay for necessary training tickets like fall arrest, or lift training; being asked if your comfortable preforming a task, that requires safety training, without the appropriate certification. They always get the job done, but at what cost. Eventually it'll catch up to them, I just wouldn't want to be on site when ot happenes.

Worked there for 10 months, went from get a broom we're out of work to can't take a bathroom break without writeups for poor planning. Most welders in the shop are scabby and don't care about the beads they put down. Both dayshift and nightshift management is beyond useless as they only care as long as its done by due date, but lack the foresight to see where the problems are when it comes to the work/ workers. Dayshift will be blaimed for everything while nights get raises for dumping work on days. The "foreman" is childish and thinks threatening empoyees is a good use of morning safety meetings. They say they care about safety but let guys run cranes with a load on it while texting. Stay away from this dumpster fire.

Great company before the sisters companies came together. Pyramid Corporation was a fun working environment and had great dedicated people working there. Then when tarpon, Warwick and Pyramid Corp came together and got ran by new people out of Calgary everything was a secret and they started transferring everything to Calgary. No clear insight to what was happening just a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. Then Covid hit and it was a blessing everyone got let go and they shut their doors in Nisku! I would not recommend working for PTW they do not care about taking care of their people and will push you out if you’re not liked. 

Was hired on to work as a 1st yr Electrical apprentice. Would try to do an orientation and filled out the exact formatting of the code. And didn’t work. The manager wouldn’t do anything about it. Worked with a couple of Formen leaders. Extremely impatient as I would take notes about what they were staying to me about a certain electric temporary three phase panel. He would roll his eyes at me and walk away. Later stopped working for this place after 2 weeks. Those of you who want to work here, THINK TWICE. You will not enjoy here at all. They are not supportive of any apprentices. Stay completely away from this place. Absolute worst experience ever!!!

I wasn't with ptw long. They were hiring for days and nights but decided to put me on nights even though I requested days. Told me they would switch me after a month or two. Found out that as a lie from veteran employees on the floor, and that they only switch guys when they're preparing to let them go. Huge shop with over 50 guys on each shift so you're basically just a body on the floor. Raises given very rarely maybe every few years and shop wide. Definitely a "stay in your lane" shop where welders weld and fitters fit even if you're certified and capable of both which for me made the job quickly become repetitious. 

I’ve been working here for about 2 weeks now and after the first week you really realize that you’re just a number there and if your not up there they don’t care about you. I applied to start my apprenticeship there as an electrician and i was immediately placed into being a welders assistant and not getting the chance to learn any electrical work at all. The only pro to this job is the people who work there are good but when upper management blames the workers for their mistakes, they really let you here it. Also they tell you you’re schedule is a 5 days on 2 days off but they will grill you if you don’t work the weekends. 

My tasks were very simple and laid out. Most people wanted to negotiate a different way of how to approach them. Check outs went well. Ops and us did a decent dance. The manager was fair efficient and quite helpful. The safety officer was amazing. He answered many questions  then got answers for those that weren't answered.
Hardest part of job I wasn't allowed to fix things but that was the job scope. I have nothing but accolades for this gig that I was hired for. My foreman man was energetic and helpful. When things slowed down phone calls and good reviews were passed onto other turn around sites.
