At first, everything seems ok but as you get into the job, you realize that management is not ethical, honest or professional. From the misrepresentation in the interview to deception on the job, I would steer anyone away from the company (most notable Technical Communications). Passive aggressive behaviour, mental and emotional abuse, micro-management and a controlling manager are things that you have to deal with on a daily basis. Three weeks into the job I packed up my desk and started to look elsewhere. I am amazed that management can still carry on like that even though there are many people that have issues with the leader. People have quit (many) but there is only constant and that to me is a sign of a company that is destined to fail. If you can't get rid of the problem, then you will not succeed. Some words of advice to Human Resources, instead of talking about making changes, how about have someone look into what is really going on in the department. Talk to the people that are there and get their account. I know that there are people there that are having issues but NOTHING is done about it. If the company is serious about keeping their people, they have to get rid of the people that are the problem. If they don't do it, they will continue to have a high turn-over rate. If management cannot manage effectively, get in managers that can.

If you are looking into the Technical Communications department, please think about how bad you want the job. I wish there were reviews like this before I took the job. If I knew what the environment was like before hand, I wouldn't have taken the job. If you have any self respect and dignity, stay away from the department. I was there just 10 weeks and I was worn down and broken down by management to the point where I hated going in every single day. Please don't be the next person to have to deal with this.

Working at Pason helped me gain valuable technical experience pertaining to my career goals. I've also had the opportunity to make meaning friendships and improve on, not only my technical skills, but also on my soft skills. 

The hardest part of the job was during the beginning of my internship since there was a lot to learn. Even throughout the internship, there were always new technical knowledge I had to catch up on. I love to challenge myself, especially with learning new concepts while working at Pason, so learning new things, although difficult, was still enjoyable for me.

The most enjoyable part of my job was being able to practice my technical skills and also learn new ones. I was able to run my own projects, from inception to completion, and I was able to be a part of a team running larger projects. I also thoroughly enjoyed the people culture at Pason as everyone I've met at Pason were very smart, talented, hard working, kind, and welcoming individuals.

I started with Pason in 2010 and worked my butt off. The pay was the real good factor with Pason. But when times in oil and gas become uncertain everyone grabs their pants and waits to see who and how many get laid off. LAyoffs are generally permanent. Pason most often hires new applicants, which puts strain on the existing employees as they are required to train and mentor new hires. The learning curve is steep and can take 2 years for a new hire to be a really good hand. Field manager(s) have the ability to choose their "friends" in the field. PEople with long tenure and good work ethic were laid off because of disagreements with management. Head office buries their head in the sand and let's the field manager do his bidding with layoffs. It's very sad. Many people relocated their lives to work for Pason, only to be laid off in a foreign town. 

Pason is a high tech company focused on the oil and gas drilling industry. It is full of smart, hardworking people who are passionate about what they do. It used to be a really great place to work.

Unfortunately, recent changes in senior leadership has changed what had been an exceptional corporate culture. Random layoffs occur regularly with no communication or explanation. If you get to close to the edge of the herd - you too may be gone. The customer focus has changed from building exceptional, long-lasting, rig-tough products to more of a short term view of "What can we sell TODAY". 

Time will tell if the brand loyalty that has been built up since 1978 can overcome the latest mismanagement.

Most managers have been there for a decade or more and even though new opportunities crop up for more managers they just spread the existing ones thinner instead of allowing for more internal promotion.

It's a good place to hone your skills but you might outgrow them in a few years.  Almost all promotions go to long-time favorites, regardless of how mediocre or inept they may be.

Pay is good, BBQs and ball hockey is fun.

Lots of on call in some departments - can really burn you out in a hurry.  Unfortunately the trend is to wake up more people rather than push back about the gravity or validity of the problem.

Truly the best company I've ever worked for. They really care about their employees. I feel like I make an impact in my job, I'm not just a number! The leadership team is very approachable and open to new ideas and opinions. They really treat their employees well - giving Christmas gifts, bonuses, great benefits (full coverage for US and Canadian employees!!!), great pay, and all around great people. I plan to stay at Pason until I retire.

Pason is a great company if you are fortunate enough to work for the right manager. The Chairman of the Board, CEO and many other senior managers have worked hard to create and sustain a great culture and environment. 

Unfortunately, there are a few senior managers that don't live and breathe the culture that made Pason a great place to work previously.

The Human Resources Department, aka People and Culture (or People with no Culture, which is what the majority of staff referred to them as), lacks the right leadership, nor are they fully competent as a whole.

Management rarely attends social functions and has very little to do with lower level employees. Benefits and pay look great on paper but when you factor in the overtime required to meet their expectations the salary is actually very low. There are a lot of sudden changes being made with little communication to employees. Sudden terminations and no internal communication on where employees should direct questions or concerns in the absence of a manager.

The beginning is quite tough, but Pason doesn't have any previous requirements for field technicians. You do train for about two months, but then you really learn once you're out on your own. It's good pay and you work on your own most of the time. The culture is supposed to be gossip free but you always have those people that ruin it for everyone else. Otherwise, the culture is pretty good. You set your own schedule and have to be a self starter.

Job itself is fine, Help desk lacking any sort of experience, Management as for the eastern region is horrible to say the least!
Management seems ok to support incompetence, and lazy techs in certain areas. Dangle things like your company service truck and phone as a yearly bonus which you get from day 1….  Make accusations to field techs without knowing the whole situation.
