Paul Davis Restoration

Franchise company, so each location will have a different experience.  Mine is incredible.  The owners are intelligent and communicative.  They thank you for your work. The team leads thank you for your work and work WITH you and TEACH you.  This is a team built by the owners, who know what they are doing.  

The work isn't back breaking.  It can be hard, going up and down stairs lugging equipment and garbage out, etc.  it can be humid and hot.  But if your team, and your lead are geat, or even decent, you'll have fun and enjoy your day.  But, if your franchise owners aremt fit to know how to build a winning team and your team didn't want to work together regardless of how the owners are, then your day will suck. 

 Best part of my day is everyone works together as a team and has fun.

Pros:
can be great people to work for/with 
Great overtime when busy
Awesome pay for on call
Travel(how can this be bad?  You get paid to drive around)

Cons: 
smelly jobs like sewage/mould (wear your respirator)
If your franchise owners arent cool
If your co workers aren't cool

I can deal with schedule changes, if people call in sick and it changes, etc.  doesn't  bother me one but.  If that's a deal breaker for you, don't apply.


When I started with Paul Davis, everything seemed to be great. Employees were welcoming and everyone seemed cheerful and happy to be a part of the team.

After a couple weeks, I noticed that management was micro managing all jobs and watching every employee through tracking and cameras (more then normal).
Management would call and text you everyday, wondering what you are doing and constantly questioning your actions, they do not trust anyone who walks through their doors and  makes you feel like you are walking on thin ice.

Every job site I had went to, employees were constantly speaking ill of management or how poorly jobs were unorganized.

One wrong move or human error, will either cost you your job. 

The only thing positive I can say about the job is that the employees working are extremely pleasant and help you get through the day. 

This workplace operates more like a private family circle than a professional company. Employees are expected to conform to the family’s personality and values, which can be toxic and unrealistic. They place family members throughout different departments to keep an eye on everyone, constantly watching and then privately gossiping. 

Despite regularly speaking about their own success and humble beginnings, leadership is insecure and resent employees with stronger qualifications or ideas. 

There’s a high turnover rate, which speaks volumes—many employees don’t last long. 

Overall, the company culture was more about maintaining a certain image than supporting the people who actually keep things running.

What is the best part of working at the company?
There was not anything good. You were treated like a number. Nothing was ever communicated well. Worked with old equipment.


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Working with staff that couldn't speak english a d didn't want to do the work.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is very toxic. Nobody wanted to listen or communicate. They expected you to get the job done as soon as possible without explaining everything.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Long, stressful, tired, didn't matter if you worked all day and then go out on call possibly an hour or 2 away and not getting home till around midnight.

It's hard work, and takes thought and planning. In the two months I have had the pleasure of working here I have learnt a lot of skills. The supervisors and managers are always encouraging and supportive. They want you to succeed, they put in time to teach you, shadow you. The team is always willing to jump in and help you when you are busy. At the end of the day you might be filthy and exhausted, but you walk away with a sense of accomplishment.
The management shows thier appreciation and you are compensated very well with generous overtime pay. 

This company is heavily family-run, and nepotism is a major issue. The "owners" are all talk, no action. Family members are placed throughout multiple departments, giving them control over all aspects of the workplace. This creates an environment of favoritism and micromanagement rather than teamwork. Decisions are often based on personal preference rather than merit, and if your personality doesn’t match theirs, your position is not secure no matter how well you perform. Unfortunately, this results in an unprofessional and unsupportive environment!

we were like family everyone looked out for each other and you don't get that type of a job to often i loved working for them and would go back in a heart beat

communication  could have been better but we always got the jobs done either way

it was amazing i felt secure and always wanted my job back since they let us go im willing to go back i loved it

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
always a blast we all got along really well for the most part

It's not that Paul Davis is a terrible place to work.  I can only speak as a Project Manager and General Manager.
The biggest obstacle is the industry.  I have never worked in an industry where the main client is a homeowner or business owner, but you are being paid by the insurance company.  The goal is to have a happy customer, but the insurance adjusters make it virtually impossible.  When the cost to do a job is X amount of dollars, and the insurance company pays significantly less, or tries to pick away all profit it makes the day a hard one.

Nothing good at this company they are horrible no hours terrible management

Management and hours are horrible 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very bad and toxic goes from 18 hours a day to two weeks off

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Show up work hard and then leave without any thanks only good thing is company vehicle

I worked for them for a few months and honestly there is so many better jobs and even restoration companies that do better work with better people, be expected to be paid unfairly. and the people you work with especially on the demolition side of things will rat the very first minute they get, they barely train you, the project managers barely know what there doing and often mess up or don’t understand the job and will try to blame it on the technicians. It’s toxic and a lot of drama not worth it
