Family owned and operated doesn’t mean what it use to. It use to mean standing with the people that work for you and being true to your word. To Payzants, that’s just not the case. They don't want to hear about any issue you may have inside or outside of work. Processes are a mess with no consistency between stores, with no training manual! They will expect you to roll over and be ok with them going back on a handshake deals.Raises are dangled like golden carrots only to be pulled away. Be warned that phrases like “living wage” are not liked at this company so don't expect to make much for your hard work. So if you want to gain skills and be rewarded for your work….AVOID AT ALL COSTS


Be careful when applying to work for Payzants because to them you are only a number. If you start to have issues or ask for help it’s likely you will be replaced.

Funny for a company who sells Cracked Armour Clothing in support of mental health awareness, doesn’t support employees with the same issues.

At first I thought Payzants was a company to grow in, but it’s a place to end in. All the long term staff speak of the “good ol days” before greed took centre stage, only staying with the company do to seniority.

If upper management would be open to suggestions and store managers were brave enough to say what they actually mean, this might become a half decent company.

If you are looking for a side job on nights and weekends Payzants will be fine for you. The expectations are only that you show up, and management will let you get away with almost anything as long as they like you.

As soon as Payzants realise you as a hard worker they will pile on the work with promises of  advancement or even a raise. This “family owned” business doesn’t like to put those promises in writing though, asking for “trust and faith”.

So when you start to struggle and ask for help, expect the rug to be pulled out from beneath your feet. 

Do yourself a favour and work somewhere where you are valued as a person, and they want you to succeed in life and work.

Some days were slow, with nothing to be done in the eyes of us part-timers, but no less did the older, full-timers complain at us and pretend to do things themselves. 
The management was OK, he could have done better and approached problems differently than he did at times.
The co-workers were not so great. I actually enjoyed working with only 4 of them, the rest of the time the others would complain about everyone else working behind their backs but never actually resolve the problem directly with the worker.

Be prepared to hit the ground running with no support if you want to work here. Asking for help is like pulling teeth with nobody wanting to get involved. 

Management is okay with verbal abuse from customers and other staff members, so don’t expect them to stand up for you.

In my time with Payzants I watched so many people be tricked into working hard and only be rewarded with more work. Ask for more money or training and be prepared to be let go.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Designing Kitchen Layouts and dealing with the customer. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The processes and the way that I had to order a kitchen 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I loved the people I worked with. I had a great manager. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It was 8am to 4:30pm, usually working through my lunch to make sure what needed to be done got done.

I once thought Payzants cared about their staff, You always hear about job advancement but at no point is anyone willing to sit down and point you in the right direction. I have seen many great employees get let go or drove out due to mental health concerns. It’s easier to replace you than work with you.
Sadly you are literally just a number to this company. Low wages, medical plan that continues to get less benefits and you pay more. 


The Payzant family has absolutely no respect for their underpaid workers who have been with their company for years. They refuse to give full-time to part-time workers who already work more than full-time hours at minimum wage and no benefits. The staff are completely disposal to them, and they would rather hire children to work part time hours, then retain their long time employees. 

Staff is great. Loved working with them. Some of the best people. Management not so much. Especially current management. Do what they ask or tell you or there is the door. Don't let it hit you on the way out. They forget about what you have done or the years you put in. Means nothing. If you not making money for them, see you. Would not recommend this place for work.

Management, and HR should work together with employees. This is not the case. What I once thought was a company you could move and grow in, became a place one dreaded. Hourly wages are below average. They do not value the employees they have.
