I love coming to work every day, being amazed at the brilliant minds that surround me.  I love seeing so-called impossible problems being solved by teams harnessing their intelligence and passion. This is an exciting and fascinating environment; I learn something new every single day.  This is a world class project on a global scale and I am so happy to be a part of it.  There is a lot of horsepower pulling together to achieve big goals and big milestones.  Everyone has their individual role to play but also each role fits together into the team.  I have never worked somewhere that offered that - no matter what your job is within PRHP, it matters and it counts.  Your job is important to move the project forward, because everything is inter-related and interconnected. It's very rewarding.  Also, no matter what you want to learn about, we have it onsite.  Every engineering discipline, finance, commercial, geotech, legal, environmental, other languages and cultures, etc. It's all here for you.  You have the freedom to learn anything, and really build your resume for your next project.  There is no other opportunity for professional development in the local area that even comes close to what PRHP is offering, and I am so thankful to be apart of something so amazing.  The pace at PRHP is fast.  It has to be fast - there is a lot happening, 24/7, and there are big goals and milestones to be achieved. There is no room for laziness or procrastination.  It is an environment best suited to go-getters who like tackling and solving challenging problems.  This is not the right environment for anyone looking to loaf around or coast along casually.  You need to be engaged, you need to be involved, and you need to care.  If you are, you will find yourself surrounded by like-minded people, and you will find this to be the most rewarding company to work for and an amazing experience.  Every day is filled with opportunities to elevate and grow and learn.  I can easily say this is hands-down the best job I have ever had, and I have already formed lifelong connections, relationships, and friendships with some truly amazing people.

There are MANY amazing people on this job. They care about what they do, and they give 110% everyday. There is true passion on this job site. Everyone wants to be here for the project, but not for the company.

It is as a result, very hard to see everyone get railroaded by the company. There is no appreciation, no feedback, no recognition, no advancement (unless through your superiors failures, which results in increased responsibility without pay adjustments). 
You went the extra mile? crickets. Found massive cost savings? crickets. Boosted production? crickets. Management simply doesn't care. It's like being the first-born in a large family. You could recite Beethoven's Symphony 7 blindfolded with one arm, hoping to gain some kind of approval, or a sign of love, and all you get as a "that's nice dear". 

The many amazing people here have built a social help network. An unspoken understanding and encouragement group that helps keep everyone sane. It's a secret society that almost all the employees are part of that allows everyone to vent frustrations. It is what keeps this job going.

Salaries here are hilariously unbalanced to the point that new grads are making the same amount as those with 8 years experience (sometimes more). You should be compensated to the level of your performance, skill, and experience, and that doesn't happen here.

There is some good news however! Due to the turnover of employees here, you can definitely boost your networking abilities, and drive up the LinkedIn connections quite substantially.

If you want experience, you will 100% get what you put in. If you want advancement, training for future roles, or anything else, don't hold your breath.

This place is a complete gong show.  One can't even begin to explain what it is like to work at PRHP because it sounds like an exaggerated far fetched story, from someone's wild imagination. 

This project is behind schedule and over budget - always in a state of frenzy, there is no time for training or even taking time to do work properly.  Management takes no responsibility, does not provide direction or support for staff; but has no problem firing and re-hiring on a whim.   PRHP has a revolving door of employees coming and going; the HR email notices of people being dismissed are constant and never ending.  Employees/People are simply not valued here.  This is a toxic work environment, where staff are backstabbing each other in hopes to keep their own positions, instead of trying to work together as a team.  This is a direct result of the constant overhanging threats of being fired, stemming right from upper management.  

If you have health concerns or if you are working on site don't get hurt... We barely have a safety team and our safety stats are appalling.

This great Canadian project loves to give away Canadian jobs to Foreign workers.  If you apply here, I wish you luck.  Your safety is at risk, your well-being will be in the dumps, you'll work long thankless hours and after you go through all of that, you'll be lucky if you can even keep your job.

Just like every other indeed user I read the reviews and was initially put off from applying to positions. However, the desire to work on the largest project in BC outweighed the fears inspired by the reviews from past employees. 

After working here for a couple months I can honestly say that I cannot even begin to think why people would write such negative reviews It is sad to think that their misplaced anger almost prevented me from applying to what is now the best job I have ever had!

I love working at Peace River Hydro Parners. The management team consists of the most amazingly brilliant minds I have come across. It truly is an honour and an privilege to work with, and learn from them.

All I can say is don’t let yourself be influenced by others’ opinions, good or bad. Rather take the opportunity to make up your own mind!

I will start off by saying I loved my job at PRHP.  I genuinely cared about the people who worked there and it was a very sad time for me when I realized that I needed to quit.

I did not quit my job, I did not quit the long hours, the stress or my coworkers, I quit my manager and what PRHP stands for.
The disrespect that is shown to workers especially during layoffs is absolutely disgusting and not something I could be a part of.

Is there gossip?  Absolutely, you don't have 1300 people working and not have rumors going around, doesn't mean you have to take part.

Are all mangers bad?  Absolutely not, there are a lot of amazing, smart, caring people on the management team.

Everyone has different experiences and it wouldn't make sense to turn down a job if you are looking just because of the poor reviews.  However, I would strongly suggest thinking twice before you say yes to a toxic environment like PRHP.

Turnover rate is too high (40-60 %?)
Good and qualified personnel left the project primarily due to having no support from supporting disciplines, no teamwork spirit, zero.

Integrity of employees /professional ethics not observed among/between PRHP and its subcontractors..."conflict of interests" totally ignored...by accepting "gifts" from subcontractors.

Employees with "seniority" seem to "direct"how things are to be managed as opposed to some written SOPs established by Project Control-Management. Management is not up to the challenge... seemingly lacking of credentials/qualifications to run the project.

Nice and best home office work environment all over Canada, worked from home during Covid-19. Excellent Field Execution Team.
Great team, work is tough but fun. The pay could be better. The work is seasonal, laid off in the winter.


The pay was good. First time in a camp it seemed fine. My first time at a huge work site. I was thrown on machinery because they assumed I was trained at Earth Works. That's HR and the supervisors not communicating. I noticed alot of favoritism which I guess may be normal but others treated like dirt. The machinery is poorly maintained always breaking down. When I went to a different department on site RCC they actually treated people with respect and noticed there was always work to be done and people worked hard for them. The money is great, camps fine but I wouldn't recommend. I was really disappointed how I was treated at Earthworks but RCC let me finish off on a good note.

Worked as a Concrete Mixer Truck Operator.  It is seasonal but, the pay more than made up for that.  Is a camp job but, all Covid-19 protocols are in place.  Likely safest place in Canada.  Atco runs the camp.  I'm not fond of how it's run but, it's tolerable.  Food is okay not hot but, hey you can't have it all, right?

Worked with an amazing crew!  We were a great team had each others back and pulled together to get things done.  Best foreman and supervisors I've ever worked for.  The project is winding down and am looking forward to going back for one last season.  
Schedule was 2 weeks in 1 week home which was great for me.
