Many co-workers from associated departments were supportive and friendly. Benefits were good. However, salary was less than that of a brick and mortar school having similar roles. 

Parking available. Hours were standard 8, but they provide an hour lunch in addition to the 8 hours and two 15 minute breaks - bringing your day to a long 9.5 hrs long. They did not allow for many exceptions to hours or breaks at all.

Promotions often went to those who were able to network the best, have personally relationships with management, especially upper management, despite lacking key traits of the roles they were promoted too. In some instances, friends hired friends to report directly under them. Also, after years of obvious friendships in and out of the workplace, when people were promoted, friends were not placed under new Directors or Managers. Nepotism, seemed common place. 

Sadly, they rarely promoted within unless the person is seen to be a "people pleaser" and have little to no life "obstacles" (i.e. family, children, medical issues). Many people who were qualified and loyal to the company did not get advancement as they should have. 

Training during fast-paced times like enrollment periods and course start left little time for training new hires or learning newly implemented methods or practices.

Working here would be ideal for someone who may want to get experience in the field for a couple of years to be able to transition to a traditional college or university school role in administration, advising, or managing. 

Tuition reimbursement available for courses/programs that are related to your hired role. 

Some workers were able to promote toxic culture with little consequence.

You have daily stand-ups in the morning. You are given tasks, you complete them by the deadline and you are given the freedom to do so however you wish. The team is great, company culture is spectacular, there is a small games room with table tennis, foosball, mini-basketball, and a Wii. Sometimes you get free lunches and there are occasional events such as a company walk-together. During the summer, the company offers special flex-hours. There are a lot of educational resources available to you to explore. Safety standards are great with occasional fire drills. Lots of potential for innovation held back by the company's organizational skills, or lack thereof. Work can be extremely boring sometimes.

Pearson provides flexible place to work where you work with a diverse group of people and an understanding management team.

Each day would begin by doing the routine maintenance functions with regard to order issues from the CRM systems.  From there you move on to individual requests from the CRM system users.

We had a great team in SFA Support and worked well together on resolving issues, routine maintenance, upgrade testing and territory re-alignments.

The hardest part of the job always seemed to be getting answers from the technical team in the U.S. There always seemed to be staff turnover and it was difficult to find the right person to ask.

The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to provide the right answers to the systems' users.  Either resolving problems or providing training.

Pearson would be a great company if they could clean up upper management. 

Each departmrent has it's own rules and policies. Each department is like it's own company and many times placed against each other. 

There are no company policies put forward by HR, just suggestions. HR do however organize occasionally nice company lunches, Christmas etc.

Sadly they do not step in when needed, nor do they correct or do anything about poor management. 

There has been instances of unqualified management who needed training especially with managing people and never received it. You cannot go to HR to have this corrected it only backfires.


 

I sort through the orders to match up the loose picks with the bulk picks, Once this has been done, I then use the forklift to take the orders to the appropriate department. Once I have completed all of this, I then go to the department and help with packing the orders so they can be shipped out to the customers.  I receive invoice into the system.  I put skids of product back into rack locations.
I work with my Leader to ensure that everything gets done by the due dates.  
I don't feel that my job is hard.  I'm busy all day and the is what I enjoy about the job.  I know when I go to work that I won't be sitting around doing nothing.

This company has a good benefit plan, but could do a lot more to recognize and promote internal talent. They often hire from outside of the company, rather than promote talented/tenured members.

This company has very high turnover and has lost some of its best talent due to its failure to promote and support employees in taking the next step in their careers.

Also, management often uses strange/shady pressure tactics. Better training is needed.

I have been employed here for over 5 years. Company has been bought 3 times by various companies and with that came departmental/structural changes but mostly administrative. 
As an admissions Advisor I interview and present to qualified prospects whom shown interest in our online Masters program. (We design online degree whom we partnerships with over 50 schools across the U.S)

In my 7 week expereince at Pearson education, I largely enjoyed the people. Job security gets 3 stars as the factory will likely shut down within the next ten years (half of it shut down during my 7 week endeavour last year). Job culture gets 2 stars as most people who work there don't really seem to enjoy their line of work very much. It seemed like the culture promoted the "work for the weekend" mentality, which is not something I personally believe in.

I work on the day shift, 6:30am-3:00pm.  My main job is a returns clerk.  Customers return boxes of books, that is process through logpro for good stock or garbage.  Through training and knowledge I could be assisting other departments such as receiving, packaging, picking, quality control, or helping on the raymond reach.

Strictly part-time hours, some days were fast-paced while other days were much slower. Repetitive tasks but lots of interaction with test-takers and other employees. Had obscure working hours during the beginning of covid due to a backlog of cancelled/postponed exams (i.e., 6am - 12pm, 6pm-12am). Not much advancement/benefits available unless a management position is made available.
