I personally enjoy the evolving work environment, as well as working with workers, supervision, and management that are passionate and knowledgeable about their work in this specialized industry.

Coming from a mining and construction background at other large companies, working for Mill Creek Sand & Gravel / Peaskie Minerals has the benefit of the type of work you’d expect at a northern Alberta mine site - without all the red tape, flights, and being away from your family. Highly recommend.


I have worked for Mill Creek for about a year now and it has been excellent. The upper management and owners care about safety, employees, and doing things right.
You are treated with respect by supervisors and other employees. The crews get along well and have fun at work. With recent changes to benifits and competitive wages all this adds up to make it an extremely desirable place to work!

There are three main processes to make the sand products at Mill Creek.

First is extraction; it is done with heavy equipment. Excavators, Articulated Rock Trucks, Loaders, Dozers, and Graders.

Second is washing; the main plant sorts and washes the sand into three main products without clay, coal, dirt and other contamination. 

Last is drying; the dry plant removes moisture and and does final sorting for shipping and sales.

There is a lot more going on and this just scratches the surface!

What is the best part of working at the company?
They lied to me for my whole time that I was working there, from being oveloaded to not getting paid what I was promised. 
They paid good but it's a gamble for the driver.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They mite overload you and won't let you scale your truck.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
They are a lot of buddies and family members so think about that.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Go to pit load up and go to city, unless you got a gold course load then you go out of town random pay rates...

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing so badly run bosses treat u like a number and no organization  at all 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No organization at all and it's family run have there kids working and they are really ba d operators and they always get priority over the better operator s so it's all family

Good people but not well run bosses talk  about the workers behind your back 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Not fun at all  just there to make money

Great place to work . Show up in the morning , have safety tool box talk. Get assigned a job . Go to your piece of equipment and go to work. They are strict on everyone taking their breaks everyday. Everyone is easy going . Anyone new has a question ,there's always someone to offer a helping hand .  Management is great , there is no micro managing jobs. Everyone looks out for each other on the job site . 

It’s hard to find a company that cares about their employees well being like Mill Creek does. Very unique company that takes the initiative to constantly better itself as time goes on. Owners and management are awesome to work with, as well as everyone in corporate. 

This is one of the best jobs I’ve ever had. Not once have a felt like a number. I would recommend working here to anyone! 

As a new operator with limited experience Millcreek toke a chance and gave me the opportunity to join there team. Started as a rock truck operator and worked my way up to full equipment operator. They proved that with skill and determination even as a rookie you can succeed and grow with the company.

They make you sign a contract that basically allows them to fire you for little to no reason. Plenty of employees making accusations ( false or otherwise) to get ahead or strengthen their own job security. Family holds most of managment jobs, so being treated fairly and without bias is not achievable.

Great team from bottom to top. People work together in order to complete active jobs and make sure our customers are happy. Costumer service, friendly attitude and a strong work ethic is a must.
They also provide opportunities to grow within the company for employees as well. Overall great people and place to work. 

Working at Mill Creek has been a productive and fun work experience. All the employees are great, management is awesome as well. Everyone is easy to get along with. 
Excellent benefits for employees and all concerns are taken seriously. The jobs can get repetitive, but your coworkers keep it fun for you no matter what.
