Working for Penfolds was sometimes stressful as you were constantly working with teams that knew very little english. Safety was taken moderately seriously but I have seen much worse especially in residential construction. They were understanding if you needed time off for the most part. Management responded to your needs when you submitted any type of complaint or brought up anything in need of review. There are a lot of hard parts of a roofers job but hauling bundles of shingles across wet and slippery roofs sticks out in my mind as one of the more challenging parts. The pay rate was atrocious and was never enough especially living in Vancouver. This was made possible by the constant flow of foreign workers who were willing to work for little to nothing and didnt know any better. You literally had to work 6 days a week to make ends meet at best and hours were long and hard in harsh conditions. I would not work for a company who pays employees such low wages for such intense work again.

I have worked for this company before, years ago and this company has changed a lot since then and still seams to try to find its culture. It's for sure a good company if you are looking for a job and do not ask for much. If you are looking for a career you should rather try your luck somewhere else. I did not enjoy the lack of communication, the sort of disrespect, and the feeling to get put in a box; but maybe that is just me, who painted a different picture. I was let go without notice. They said that the department is restructuring, and received severance pay. What I found unfair was that 10 days later this company posted a job offer for my position. An ex-colleague told me that they hired a person for my position which they replaced with another person shortly after.

The company is generally very good, it's a good place to learn and to start your career.  The best parts about the the company were my coworkers and the overall vibe of the company. The hardest part about the job was that the accounting department was literally a mess. What bothered me is that accounting operations are mostly paper based which made me feel that something is wrong when I printed tons of paper for record keeping, I felt like I am in 1989.   On the bright side however, there is no denial that I learned so much from my position. Also, the manager is very supporting and actually guides you through the work which is good. Overall it was a very fun experience which I would do all over again !

There was never a feeling that I mattered, I learned that I could never expect help, nor respect.

Never know when the day would end, due to constant changes throughout the day. Remorseless pressure. 

 I had the least appreciated job but was relied on heavily to solve issues and given jobs from all departments.

Mislead on how difficult the job and demand was. Overloaded, and lied to often. 

They never appreciate the position of driver and that is there greatest mistake.Taken advantage of. Cell phone never stopped ringing regardless of when work began or ended. 

Mismanaged 

Most enjoyable part of the job was when I stopped answering the phone.

Ok money and you got given a truck but at a cost....

Cell phone ringing from the minute you wake up to the late evening 
disorganized 
Complacent 
Liars (weekend work not mentioned at interview,pay not increased,mislead on scope of work)
Made to feel like you didn’t matter 
Used for any job that was seen as not very nice ie garbage collections,removals,any job the office staff didn’t want to do
Totally unrealistic scope of work 
Management couldn’t manage! 
Told you can work own hours-just so they can tell you to start as early as the want you to start and finish when they want you to finish

Is a great company, I messed up that’s why I don’t work there anymore, really forgiving for the start especially if you know the staff. Loved working for them except when they saw a couple of beer cans in my company truck for doing something stupid, would highly recommend if you know at least one of the staff members 

While I was there, management was overbearing while paying you the absolute least possible amount. They talked a great story about earnings potential but they had unrealistic expectations, were very inflexible in their pricing programs and were very unsupportive of a proper life/work balance. If you're prepared to work 24/7 for a company that doesn't recognize effort, pays only on the basis of results and handcuffs you in your ability to appear halfway competitive, this company may be for you.

Penfolds Roofing & Solar only care about making a sale. They pay low wages to workers, treat people poorly and even make the workers pay for their own social functions. They claim they offer RRSP matching, but the small amount they give you after 1 year won't even buy you lunch, let alone help with retirement.  You can't take time off in the warm months and the small amount you get for vacation needs to be used during poor weather so that you have some money for your family, since you can't work. 

If you can, avoid this place. Sure, it’s good experience if you’re just starting out in your field but LEAVE as soon as you can. If there were any good managers or fun work culture  (that they speak of in the job descriptions)  it’s long gone. If you get a job here pray that you’re one of the few lucky ones that get treated/ paid fairly. Benefits are good though but as technicians you can find better. Anyone can find better. The people in the office were also hardly ever happy with management. 

Busy day always and Ive learned a lot from my supervisor of this company, the quality of work, the standard work, how to figure out where the leak of the comes from, doing the carpentry work for the skylights and lots more especially in metal roof. Awesome co-workers, all are very good. Hardest part of the job, when you do it very fast..quality of work is not 100% good. enjoyable part of the job, to learn from my mistakes.
