The first 3 months were great. And then..

I start every new week wondering how am I going to get paid this week. 

The work flow has never been consistent. You get paid by the hour & your workload determines your pay. Some weeks you can have up to 3-5 projects in your queue. Some other weeks 1 or 2. Then you have those ongoing weeks when theres 0 jobs in your queue. This is not a fun place to be when the company has minimal work to provide. Slow days and holiday season you will find yourself losing out on lots of hours as there isn't much work to be handed out. You will find yourself begging others for work in other departments. Hourly pay is a huge red flag at this company as they do not guarantee you hours.

When I started, they trained me for the job which was good. However, as time went by, they gave me more projects. I was able to handle it for the first year or so. But it just got worst, I barely had any downtime and was always busy with my ever increasing workload. If I had to go on vacations, I always had to work overtime before and after the vacation which beats the purpose of taking a break. Also, I did not like how workplace bullying was not taken as seriously as I wanted it to be. There was no punishment for the bully. For me, that was one of the major reasons why I can't stay in a workplace like that. That's why I left. This job burned me out so bad, it sent me spiraling down to depression. It took many years to recover.
If you want to work here, you will learn a lot of things, but there will be a lot of criticisms. Also, only work the normal 40 hrs and ONLY work overtime if it's paid. Overall, I did find some friends here.

As a CAD Technician at Planview, I have had a challenging experience, particularly when it comes to work-life balance and team communication. The company often expects long hours and overtime, and it feels like there is little to no opportunity to take breaks. The workload can be overwhelming at times, which creates a stressful environment.

Additionally, there are no established drawing standards, making the work inconsistent and often unclear. This lack of structure leads to confusion and frustration, as it feels like you are constantly trying to figure things out as you go.

The biggest issue, however, is the lack of communication between team members. There's little to no collaboration or direction, which makes it difficult to stay on the same page and results in delays and unnecessary mistakes. Overall, I feel there is a lot of room for improvement in terms of management, communication, and work-life balance.

A great workplace that is perceptive of employee needs and will adapt to accommodate their staff. Lots of staff that has been around for quite some time which is a refreshing change from other companies with revolving doors. 

Competent management that will listen to feedback and make an effort for positive change instead of sticking with what is comfortable and easy. As long as you like working with developers or utility companies, this is a great place to be. 

Hardest part of the job is working with so many standards across different customers/organizations that can feel overwhelming at times.

Working as a summer student at Planview Utility Services was an incredibly enriching experience. I worked alongside a dedicated and supportive team, which provided me with valuable hands-on experience and mentorship. Throughout my time there, I was involved in significant projects and had the chance to contribute meaningfully to the company's operations. This experience has been instrumental in shaping my understanding of the industry and enhanced my professional growth. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow at Planview and would highly recommend it to any student seeking a rewarding and impactful summer internship.

Best place to work and it doesn’t make you feel like you are working. The management always helps your growth and coaches you to be better. Being at plan view was not just a regular job, but to build my career. Loved every minute of working here! Planview is like any company that goes through massive growth in a short period of time. It has the best team culture, leaders make it feel very welcoming and supportive, and growth and development opportunities are immense. Management individualizes every employee to maximize their potential and best utilize their unique skills. They are very approachable and accommodating at all times. Overall just a great place to be in the corporate field.

The management team is exceptionally supportive, prioritizing both professional and personal development through ample training and mentorship opportunities. The knowledge engineering department is a hub of innovation, always pushing the boundaries with cutting-edge solutions.

sometimes its the balancing of multiple projects with conflicting deadlines

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
its very friendly, and helpful, i feel like i matter. Pretty positive place, and the online environment is fun, i feel connected with work friends.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
checking emails, reviewing porject updates,  meet with my manager, planning out the day, coordinating tasks, working on designs, quality checks

In my experience at the company, the work environment is disorganized and lacks cooperation. 

Project instructions are often unclear, and the quality of materials provided is subpar, making it difficult to work effectively and leading to wasted time. Many projects become rushed due to missed deadlines. 

There is little accountability among team members, which discourages collaboration and support. Additionally, compensation is very low, and vacation time is nearly nonexistent, contributing to a challenging overall experience and low employee morale.

At Planview Utilities, my role as a Project Coordinator has been incredibly fulfilling thanks to the outstanding support and leadership provided by my managers. Their dedication to fostering a collaborative and empowering work environment has allowed me to thrive and contribute meaningfully to a variety of challenging projects. The company's commitment to innovation and professional development makes it an exceptional place to work and grow in the utilities sector.
