Working at Popeye's Supplements is a great job for anyone who loves interacting with people and helping others achieve their goals. 
A typical day at work includes assessing customers and understanding their needs. We educate customers on how to reach their goals and which supplements will allow them to do so. We explain why each supplement is beneficial and whether or not it is something they should be using based on what information they tell us about themselves.

I learned skills on management, training employees and other useful information such as how a business can be ran successfully. 

Co-workers are a huge impact on the quality of your job as they are the people you spend the majority of your day with. Thankfully, I get along with my co-workers very well and have even developed friendships. My job position has taught me how to balance out managing someone but still having a friendly relationship with them. 

I do not find my job to be "hard" because I enjoy what I do. However, things can become stressful when we have situations such as it being a busy time in the store and having orders arrive at the same time. I have become very skillful in being able to tend to multiple tasks at once. 

The most enjoyable part of my job is having customers come back who have followed your advice and being pleased with their results. It really makes my day when I have someone come back who is excited over what they have accomplished based on the information I gave them. Another part of my job that I enjoy is making friends with my regular customers and being able to meet new people and learn about them even if it has nothing to do with diet, exercise or supplements.

I'll start this off in saying if you are looking to get into this job to help people with their goals, look into working at a different supplement store. Sure they tell you that customer service is the most important thing to them and "help" the customers reach their goals but that's not true at all, in fact, when customers walk in instead of genuinely wanting to help they basically see a number over their heads and think, how can I get this sucker to walk out with way more then what they came in here for?

I got into this because I truly wanted to help people out and because I'm passionate about supplements and the gym life. I did still help people but I found myself, because of the pressure, getting angry at people when they don't spend more money. Constantly there is just pressure for average transactions to go up regardless of what the customer wants meaning if someone comes in just for a Protein, their strategy is to figure out what other products they can stack on without you even knowing about it and they do it in such a way that truly makes you think they are giving you great customer service but in realty all they did was trick you into buying something you really didn't need or want just so they can make more money from everybody, especially taking advantage of people just starting out and not knowing a thing about supplements.

If you like truly helping people out and feel passionate about it, work at another supplement store, not this one. If you only care about sales jobs and don't mind lying to people every day then this job is for you!

I was so excited to work with this company. I passed both the interview processes and got hired. They convinced me to put in a 1 week notice with my previous job so I could start sooner. After putting in my 1 week notice, I started training. I did one 4 hour training shift and they knew what my preferred availability was (monday to friday mornings, an occasional evening and weekends if there was a big sale and they needed extra staff). I was told this would be fine. I get home, look at my schedule and notice I had a few evening shifts already a weekend shift. I was fine to work it, but I messaged the manager to reiterate my availability for the future. Although I said I would still work whatever hours they preferred, I simply told the manager I was hoping for the hours that were advertised when I first got the job. I was immediately fired. Never have I ever experienced something like this at any other workplace. What an extreme lack of compassion. They should have gone over the availability better before telling me to leave my other job and before hiring me to begin with if it was such a deal breaker. Manager ignored all of my calls before & after firing me too. No communication whatsoever. Just fired in the blink of an eye all because I told them my preferred availability. Terrible. Stay away from this company!!!

As mentioned in the review summary above, upper management particularly in stores owned and operated by D.R. in the lower mainland of B.C. are the WORST type of people. Micromanaging, watching the cameras 24/7, making us lie to customers, selling expired product, being pushed to sell illegal steroids, getting verbally abused by someone who can get the snot kicked out of them by 90% of the population, false hope on getting a pay raise or moving up to be a manager. I honestly could keep going, but these are just a few of the complaints I have. I worked at the store for over a year and a half and slowly realised what was going on. 

Its a supplement store, NOT a pharmacy. NO we did not make commision, actually got deducted pay for a lot of different reasons, and aside from the we were PUSHED to sell the amazing, good for nothing, over priced supplements by Progressive. NO you do not need vege greens.

Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read my rant. Obviously only about 30% of what actually went on in there, but its enough info to warn some kids about working in a place that disgusting.

Management kept getting more and more strict the longer I worked here. They kept figuring out ways to pay us less, like rounding our time clock hours down or up (whichever benefits them), if we work later we only get paid for the time they scheduled us for, even if you kept the store open later to make sales because customers kept walking in. Constant threats of termination, the owner/managers micromanage and watch the cameras and will get upset if you aren't working constantly. Sales targets to hit and they encourage you to lie to customers to get them to buy the products that you're "supposed" to sell. It's all high-pressure sales tactics, threats, intimidation, micromanaging, and low pay. One of the former managers was trying to get me to give him money too to "thank" him for getting me the job, and when I ratted him out he came into the store and cursed me out and yelled at me. If you want to work for a bunch of greedy thugs and be watched on the cameras constantly and get minimum wage, then knock yourself out. They're always hiring because the job sucks so much that most employees quit after a few months.

Management treats employees with respect and consideration contrary to typical retail style. Flexible hours , and workplace culture for the most part is positive and fun. 
Shifts are normal, helping customers, unloading orders, and improving product knowledge of over hundreds of sports supplements. 
Not a difficult job, store duties are straight forward, and typical cash out protocols are simple. Product knowledge and recommendation is 90% of the customer interaction so it helps to have prior knowledge however not mandatory. 
Most unenjoyable part of the job is dealing with the rude and disrespectful customers. Depending on the location , some stores can be quite busy for one employee to handle along with store orders and upkeep, so not a lot of time to eat or take a break. 
Days can also be painfully slow and boring during certain times in the year.

Work regular part time or full time hours, pay is minimum or slightly above, the work is basic retail work but with the added responsibility of going through the daily financial documents and register, and having to give what feels like borderline medical advise to customers. There is a never ending supply of "busy work" when the store is empty, constantly facing shelves, constantly moving the inventory forward, constantly cleaning something. Even if you actually have nothing to do, be prepared to find something to do because they watch you over the cameras all day and will literally text you telling you to stand up or start facing something etc. Only real growth opportunity is if you plan on going into the fitness or supplement career fields, otherwise its your usual dead end retail job. The customers are usually great, and it will get EXTREMELY busy sometimes as its across the street from an LA Fitness. Overall, average retail job unless you intend to go into the supplement business or be a body builder.

When I initially joined this company, they explained the role as a customer service/retail position. As the company went through changes, the company started promoting the role as a sales position and put a significant importance on sales targets. After this massive shift and importance on sales the company decided it would be a good idea to start giving out hours based on one's sales "performance". One week you could be working a full time schedule, and the next you don't get scheduled at all. During my time there I saw massive favoritism from one individual in top management. He fired people based on who he liked and if he thought you were in the companies best interest. The reason behind why I left the company was because I stopped getting zero hours out of the blue for "bad performance" although my sales targets were significantly better than some of the employees. I would suggest no one to work here unless you enjoy a toxic and favoritism environment. 

When I was hired it was a pretty good job. I had a great manager, the other stores managers were great. In the last 2 years the company especially in the maritimes has taken a nose dive. It because far less customer focused. I had worked there for 3 years, I found out I was being paid 3 dollars less per hour than staff at other stores despite sales numbers being similar. I talked to the district manager who had recently taken over management of the location, he refused to pay me more and said “if you want to be paid more go work somewhere else” and said that no one was getting paid what I asked for despite management at my store and other stores confirming how much newer employees were being paid. The majority of store management has quit in the last year, over pay, treatment, and unclear objectives from upper management. Working here made me lose my passion for the fitness industry. 

I have been involved in the supplement industry for many years, and Popeyes is a company I will always continue to stand by. They are the leaders in supplement retail, and they base their practice off of strong ethics, which is something I greatly admire. There is a lot of deception in this particular industry, so it is extremely rewarding to be a part of a company that you can stand by with confidence. It makes recommending products to people that much easier when you believe in them!

I developed very important sales and people skills working at Popeyes, and I cannot say enough about the management! They truly care about your success and want very much to see you improve in your job. They manage with positive feedback rather than micro-managing. It was a very rewarding and fun experience to be able to work with this company.
