To start, your experience is 100% based on location. All PTG locations are owned and operated by one large company, but each store manages itself for the most part.

There's lots of benefits to the corporate life including events, the ability to relocate, and lots of opportunity to grow if they give you the chance.

The issue is getting that chance. They will sell you the idea that they like to promote from within and in the US locations you will see these wonderful stories, however in Canada they often want experience for a position one rung up the ladder that there's just no way for you to have gained internally.

Working at PTG is a great way to dip into the HD Truck industry if you have no experience however after you've gained that experience they will undervalue your time and skill compared to other companies. They are proud to run middle of the pack in terms of compensation, "We're not the best but we're definitely not the worst" is an actual quote from a general manager lol

Executive management is extremely out of touch and fails to relate to a floor level employee in any way, which brings me to my final point. This company does not care about you unless you are a service technician or a manager. That's it. 

All in all, if you have experience in HD truck in a smaller company or have little to no experience then PTG could be a good move. But they will not provide pay adjustments in line with inflation let alone actually reward Parts personnel. On that front, turnover is a real concern and something that one may want to be prepared to witness and/or experience themselves.

As a technician, the Hamilton location is a great place to be. The shop is heated and air conditioned. Most jobs that come in are pretty clean and easy compared to other shops. Not often working on garbage trucks or body-builder items. There are many opportunities for product training and internal education for career advancement. The one thing that sets the Hamilton location apart is the culture. The service department is made up of a very friendly team who always work to support each other and sustain a healthy work environment. A lot of this is thanks to the Service Manager, as she cares about her department more than most managers ever could. She offers her attention and best efforts to make sure all voices are heard and will always push to get whatever support is needed to keep the department positive and efficient.
Pay is great but not the highest as this is likely due to the fact that the dealership is only open 7-5:30 on weekdays. Not having to work nights or weekends is a huge benefit to anyone who is supporting a family. A bonus incentive program is available as well. Benefits are very good, especially on the medical end with regards to medication. To summarize, PTG Hamilton is a great location that offers peace of mind for both work and home life, a sense of security with all the perks that come with being a part of the Penske family and many opportunities to advance yourself.


The workload was heavy and the compensation was significantly below industry standards. Yearly performance reviews were promised but often delayed or skipped altogether. Many senior technicians were close to retirement and tended to avoid physically demanding tasks, leaving younger staff to pick up the slack. This created an uneven and sometimes unfair work dynamic, contributing to high turnover among younger employees. Management was frequently disorganized, and the foreman’s approach to handling stress often resulted in a tense and uncomfortable work environment. There are better opportunities out there with fairer pay and more supportive leadership.

Management do not care about employee. when someone tried to point out management mistake, they do not like that. Whenever any mechanic/apprentice need help, he/she has to beg from co worker/technician because afternoon foreman know nothing about trucks. Afternoon foreman is just only for there to hand out work order and Lie/complaint about all technicians to prove himself good to management. Because of afternoon foreman behavior; Premier Mississauga lost few good Technicians in past few years. when anybody quit from Premier, management/foreman lied in shop that he/she got fired.

There are lots of chances for improvement and options for diversifying your knowledge here. It is nice to see management frequently checking in on everyone asking how everyone is doing and acting on feedback. There is a strong sense of teamwork between all of the positions that is utilized to keep work flowing smoothly as well as lots of company lunches and events to invest in the workers. PTG also shows a dedication to training and promoting from within that makes your hard work feel worth it so that you can work your way up in the company.

Nothing all they care about is bottom line no incentives for employees to work there

As a manager you have to do 30 reports a monthe then another 20 at month end.way to much and most overlap each other

It’s only been a few months and I have nothing but good things to say about my team. Everyone is so understanding with sick days, offering Overtime availability, flexibility when it comes to doctors and appointments. They continue to make everyday different and fun! And they do a lot to show employee appreciation which is so fun to be apart of and see! 

A very corporate atmosphere that doesn't treat people well. 

Upper management prefers to look for problems than solutions and loyalty is a non factor. 

There is a reason most of the good and hardworking employees are leaving, yet they are wanting to keep the poor and lazy employees on. 

They also don't believe in giving raises, but prefer to give bonuses for hitting goals that aren't reasonable. 

Would not recommend this company in the slightest unless there is a massive overhaul. 

Only want to give you a raise once you say your leaving, management was poor and didn't care about you aswell as full of false promises but at the end of the day get anything they promise in writing or you'll never see it and they drag their feet when it comes to training amd some lack of tools, TOOLBOX SIZE LIMIT in a 26 bay shop ..... 

Excellent place to work,benefits are fantastic and management is super, willing to train and work with you and make you feel very comfortable .
Unfortunately my career with Premier was cut short., no fault but my own.
