Company cares too much about appearances as opposed to reality. Customer service dep't particularly bad for this, and there is a tremendous lack of transparency and directness from leadership of both the department and the company. 

They also present it in the interview as quite easy to find opportunities for growth after 1 year, but in reality, you will almost certainly be employed in this department for longer than that if you choose to stay at this company that long, regardless of your outside qualifications.

Constantly pressuring staff for overtime, and they put some "work as needed" language in the contract to fall back on in case you try to refuse. Good luck to anyone working the closing shift. Compensation is definitely below average for this role in this industry.

The one positive would be that it is a lot easier to get this opportunity from simply applying with no internal references as opposed to a bank, but once you get the necessary experience from this job to move on to something better, you will want to do that ASAP.

Questrade cares mainly about its image and how its perceived by external stakeholders.

Management is lacking direction and have to outsource help to figure out the business' mission and vision.

Treat employees like a cost to the organization, do not invest in employees whatsoever and forget about acknowledgement. The most you're going to get is 'thank you'- they wont acknowledge where it matters. Tend to spend money and resources on initiatives that don't matter.

Managers and Senior management are busy promoting themselves while the staff level doing the grunt work are least recognized. Pay across the entire organization is SO below industry average.

Huge turnover issue at Questrade and more great people are either being let go because of incompetent management decisions being backed up by HR or because they are not being recognized for their worth.

May be a good place to start a career, but unless you're not a manager favourite- you're going nowhere.

Work/Life balance: Lots of load exerted on staff, considering the
lesser staff number, due to high turn-over.
They hire/release people on a continuous base.

Good for contracting and not for full-time, since anytime they release people, due to strict upper management and their conservative
style. empowering staff.

No room for advancement, as the company is restrictive.

Does not concentrate on the people side.
Diversity and respect:Most ethnic backgrounds are Russian/Armenian and mainly one faith.
If you are from other culture/faith, expect to hear statements and feel uncomfortable.
You cannot celebrate Christmas or Diwali for example.

They release people for no apparent reason.
No job stability/career advancement

I feel fortunate to be a part of an organization with an important mission that adds purpose to our work. Questrade is definitely a place for young people just starting their careers. It's all exciting in the beginning until you realize you're taken for granted, not valued and are expected to work harder, take on more responsibilities and be okay with just a pat on the back.

There is a lack of transparency from the senior management team and this has caused a lot of turnover and resulted in employee dissatisfaction across the company.

The organic company culture that once was, no longer exists and most of the people I know there, can't wait to get out.

Advise to management- take care of your employees, invest in them and they will be loyal.

You would not call the effort you have to put in to grow your work ethic, knowledge base, and personal brand, stress, if they qualify to be called stresses, then you will have a lot of stress, but it will pay off.

With the right mindset, an organized deck, and a support system, you will have a great day.

I worked at Questrade as a Client Service Representative and left because the micromanagement became overwhelming. There was a constant feeling of being watched and second-guessed, which made it hard to work with any confidence or autonomy. Management did not seem to know how to support strong performers, and too often, the people making decisions added more frustration than value. In my experience, the company has lost a lot of capable people, and that says a lot about the environment. I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a healthy, respectful workplace.

This is an incredible place to start your career as you are joining a thriving organization and there are so many opportunities to develop yourself and move into different areas. It's less competitive than the banks as the people here are more collaborative. You are encouraged to think outside the box and contribute to overall mission of the organization.
