RAC Group Inc

I have never worked for a company such as this one and I pray I never will again. RAC had such potential. Upper Corporate Management needs to listen to the client and their expectations. Upper management need to learn to become leaders and build a professional, business minded, collaborated culture, instead of portraying a redneck business. The corporate management on the Mistras side have lack of trust, autonomy, and appreciation . Corporate management has a lot to learn. The office/corporate managers focus too much on their own career trajectory, as opposed to developing the business and employees around them. They need to get their billing on track, plus their payroll. Most of us had to wait weeks to be paid or our pay was wrong.

 Without a strong foundation, how can you possibly lead RAC to success?

Has gone downhill due to very poor management  and supervision. Used to be an amazing family vibe, but now that they’ve exapanded, they treat workers as less than human.
Expect your schedule to be constantly changed/ca cancelled up until the day you’re supposed to catch a flight to work.
Work has become quantity over quality and other companies are now taking over work scope because of RAC’s low quality. Safety has taken a backseat to production and trying to make the company look good.  Don’t risk your safety. Myself and other rope techs that were here for the long haul have had enough and left for companies that actually have respect for their workers and care about safety.
Too bad all good things must come to an end. RAC used to be so good.

I would avoid working for this company, biggest issue is management, but you can say that about any Rope company in Canada. The pay is poor, bottom of what is offered in the Oil Sands. Why is it so low, because they run 2 person Rope Teams, cut travel benifits for those out of town, and drop the standards to hiring SPRAT 3s instead of IRATA 3s because those less skilled window lickers are deperate for any job in the Oil Sands, that's how they under bid the competition. 
Stay clear of this company, there are others... but they arent much better.

Dependant on where they put you to work, hours and pay vary but low wage in comparison to other Rope companies in the region.
Management's a mess but so is every company in this industry it seems. Supervisors and management are cliqu'ey so unless you're a granola loving climber from the west coast who doesn't shower, or work, you can forget about getting in there. Not that you'd want to if you weren't.
It's a job, not a career. Sometimes they need to be reminded of that as well.

Crew is filled with good people. The upper management is terrible, RAC is great at hiring leadership that has no skills or qualifications to run a rope access company, A scaffolder to run a rope access site, they are running a great company into the ground on every site they work at. It used to be so good but now is not. treating everyone like they are replaceable and just a number. 

Suncor Site manager is spineless and wont actually talk with employees, threatening them through there lower level leadership.

Worked for RAC  for quite some time now and I have seen the ups and downs as with any company. but in the end RAC has always come through and exceeded my expectations. I have personally worked for a couple different rope company's here in Canada and this place by far treats you the best. the pay is always on time and the wages are top notch and the local uplift you get for living in the wood buffalo region is great. over all don't hesitate to come work with us!

RAC, like any other young company has had its share of growing pains. It has since become one of the biggest and best Rope Access companies in northern Alberta, and is continuing to grow. Great new management, great site Supervision, and great crews. Overall a great company to work for.

Stay away from this company, they unfortunately don't know their heads from there butts.  If you're not a window washer in Calgary, don't bother with this company.

That is another reason why so many people left from this company. The company is ran by high school kids with no education nor any intelligence. Management is incompetent, what a joke!

There are some great people working for RAC.  
Upper Management ie MISTRAS  is mediocre at communicating.  Middle managers can be very supportive and helpful.
Work is often varied and interesting or dull and repetitive.
Oilpatch work is just like everwhere else.
It was a good run with RAC, sad to be moving on

Serious issues with management. Lack of organization, no structure. Company is unaware of the specific business functionality in Fort McMurray. Employees are under paid for the cost of living in the area, but expected to take on multiple tasks for said low wage.
