Working at Rehab First has been a very positive experience. The team of skilled consultants are great to work with and provides great support to the clients served in the community.  I appreciate the ability to work from home and the flexibility to schedule clients based on my availability. Even though I work in the community, I regularly communicate and collaborate with Rehab First's other treating providers and feel supported and part of a team. I started as a new grad and was well supported by management and other clinicians from day one of orientation to develop the requisite assessment and treatment skills. I would recommend Rehab First to anyone interested in contributing to positive client outcomes through community rehabilitation. 

Not a bad job overall. A nice balance of person-centered/administrative work.  Set work hours (with flexibility) without the need for overtime.  Work volume fluctuates with turnover in professional group. Pay is not great for someone with lots of work history or experience. Little chance for advancement as there are limited management roles and low manager turnover. This is a job where you get to work from home (a nice perk) but means that you have to work harder to make connections with peers and have to use your personal vehicle for business purposes.  Mileage pay is very low (WAY lower than industry standards). Support depends on which team/manager you get.  I liked this job and likely would have stayed if pay was higher.

The company hires a lot of new graduates, so it is a great company for giving people a start to their careers. There is typically decent job security as well.  The management, particularly senior management, is problematic. There are strong power imbalances and unprofessional conduct by senior management is commonplace. There is significant underappreciation of staff, and a mentality of profits over quality staff and client care is very evident. The workplace culture, influenced by management, is very poor.

What is the best part of working at the company?
There wasn’t one. Everyone talks behind your back and they are very stuck up while only thinking about themselves. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The people that work there. Nothing is ever fair, different rules apply for everyone. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic and unprofessional, they always have something bad to say about everyone.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Listening to drama, and feeling the odd one out. No one talks to you unless you’re doing something for them.

I have learned more in my time working at Rehab First than any other company.  Not only are the owners business minded but they are also clinicians who mentor their staff and provide opportunities for growth. 

I started with Rehab First many years ago as a Rehab Consultant and have been given opportunities I wouldn't have been given in other companies given their diversity or work, wealth of knowledge and  multi-disciplinary approach.

Rehab First is a company that is in its 25th year and as such has wonderful processes in place for on-boarding new employees and assisting new clinicians in being effective in their roles in treatment teams. I have a great mix of independence and managerial support during the day on my files and I feel like I learn something new every day. This job forces you to problem solve and think outside of the box to deliver the best care to your clients. 

The pros: a lot of support for new hires, clients are interesting, and lots of opportunities to consult with other discipline colleagues. 

Cons: The micro-managing structure is incredibly oppressive, the amount of stress created not just by the type of work but by the company culture is huge, and the pay is very low. You have fully licensed professionals being paid at the lowest possible end of the pay range for work that is comparatively more demanding in terms of volume and stress (lots of paperwork, and potential legal involvement for clients) than any other job in your field. 

Decent job if you have the right manager. Can create your own schedule/availabilty. Expected to travel approx. an hour radius of your home office, sometimes requested to take on client's outside that area, which can be a positive because you get paid to travel + more hours, but also negative because your are just driving more and it can add up on your vehicle over the long run. There can be too much of a focus on 'billable hours' and pandering to lawyer requests as opposed to focusing on getting your client's better.  You also work solo for long stretches at a time which is not ideal if you are looking for a mentoring environment.

Great colleagues, professional development opportunities, and the company promotes from within. People who work here really want clients to do well and return to "the job of living". You have the flexibility to set your own schedule and work from home. While we work with clients in really complex situations, there is always someone to ask for help or brainstorm with. 

I was the 6th receptionist in a span of two years.
I would have never accepted the position had I known the challenges that I had to deal with.
Training was a joke! My manager at the time,  had no idea what she was doing!!! Every time I asked her a question, her response was always I don’t know you’ll have to ask someone else.
Moral is low, people seem unhappy. Not a great environment!
Save yourself the effort, stay away!
