I was hired as a permanent part time employee but my hours were always so low I couldnt pay my bills when I was working here

Roots makes you buy the clothes to promote them and although they give you a discount if you have to wear a different shirt and or outfit every shift and buy the brand new expensive in season items youre going to be working for free

There was a lot of favourtism and perks for being a manager but not for regular staff

The manager didnt bother to do anything for Christmas even though she was given a budget for it 

We all were run ragged working for her during the holiday season and black friday and she was given the rewards not us 

Even if you do all the work for the sale who ever is on cash punches in their own name 

There were a lot of cliques and drama amoungst staff

They  hired a  supervisor  who had no idea what they were doing and had no product knowledge and was constantly rude to other employees and customers and nothing was done about it

Overall the clothing is too expensive especially when most of it is being made overseas

Most of the time customers cant tell who the staff is because theyre wearing the clothes too 

Roots needs to provide staff with work shirts that all match and can be changed every season or every 6 weeks even one for weekdays one for weekends or with the new lines that come out for free or for $5

All of our yearly performance reviews usually gwve pay increases but they were taken away because minimum wage went up

Theres no employee appreciation at all

A typical day at work starts with counting a till and reading emails, and then we are zoned in a certain area of the store. Whether you are in the women's, men's, or children's section you help the customers and tidy the store. Throughout the day we will also create new visual in the store.
I learned while working at Roots how important the staff is to the store, this was my first time being a manager and I quickly learned that if the staff isn't all on the same page then the store will not run smoothly.
The management team and my co-workers were strong and productive throughout the store and worked like a well oil machine.
The hardest part of the job was when there was only me and one other manager because it made it difficult to schedule days off and to ensure all the work was being done.
The most enjoyable part of the job was working with the staff because they were all fantastic girls.

The staff at Roots 73 were very nice and happy all the time. The manager was always concerned about the students work load and always made sure she accommodated that. Although the slow pace was a big change for me coming from Tim Hortons, as a previous employment, it was a nice change in working experiences. the most enjoyable part of the job was defiantly the staff.

The company is not bad to work for but the new management is not to be trusted. They act like they care but will stab you in the back. 

It doesn't matter how many customers you help and are successfully with, once you get a bad customer or not a sale they drill you on why you didn't get the sale and degrade you.

Nothing to call home about. Work your job, go home. No real health benefits for part-timers, so not much to report to on that front. Best part were the Friends and Family Appreciation days (twice a year at random times) where you’d get 50% off of anything for a day; which makes the high quality clothing a steal. Also 50% off a leather bag once per year. 

I worked for Roots for two years, and its the best company I've ever worked for. The bonus system is amazing, the management team is amazing and you work to accomplish goals together. I have nothing bad to say about working for this company! Only reason I left was to step into a new role of management for another company.

Good place to work, pretty laid back, not the same volume as the gap or nike, but high price items. Easy shifts, able to have a life outside of work, manager at the time was underqualifed, but upper management i feel had no one else, willing to be manager. Money isn't great but, typical retail, 30% off is the discount of full price.

Work was fine from what I heard about. 
The management was alright but very talkative about other employees. They would nit pick every little thing cause the thought themselves better then the staff 

You get to grab clothes for ppl that seem to be fun

This job does not require much of an individual. The work attire includes sweat pants and t-shirts.  However, it is great to build relationships with members of the town
