Senior executives "management style" as justified by HR is truly abusive, unprofessional, and is harassment. Crossing ethical lines is the norm. They talk about"work life balance" and wanting a good company culture, unfortunately, it is purely lip service and nothing ever actually changes for the majority. Senior Management are the only beneficiaries in every sense (high salaries, better benefits with stock options, regular work hours even though their teams have long hours, not enough staff and support) and they only care about themselves. Period. 
Workloads are always extremely heavy with ridiculous timelines that are not achievable within normal workdays as there is not enough staff. There is a disproportionately high number of senior management, far too many directors, senior directors, VPs..., which eats up the salary budgets when more staff is needed to actually do the work.
You cannot trust certain management who take credit for others work. Many individuals, as mentioned, only care about themselves and do not work as a team unless it benefits them. You can help those individuals but they will not help you when needed. 
Not a healthy work environment.

A typical Monday consists of coming in the morning, checking emails, and planning your whole week, through assessing the sales of the week prior and seeing what has been selling and what needs to be merchandised to maximize its appeal to the customers. 

I have learned a lot through working with my visual manager, she has been a great mentor and has guided me through everything i need to learn. 

Management is what is horrible. They are incompetent and clearly not professional. They are only concerned about keeping their position, regardless of the outcomes, and who they are effecting while doing so. They disrespect all their employees and regard them as slaves, rather than coworkers. They lack leadership, and any remote inkling on dealing with tough customers or their employees. The district manager, encourages the team into ignoring the head-office direction, and forbids any contact to a higher manager. 

The hardest part of the job, is making sure to balance all the tasks in a small amount of time. 

The most enjoyable part of the job, is communicating and working with the customers and getting their feedback.

Roots is a store that is very passionate about giving quality service and hospitality. Their eco-friendly clothing and athletic merchandise makes it the store that everyone wants to drive by. A typical day at Roots would be making a sales goal for the company by selling to customers in a cooperative and friendly manner. The management is very nice but at times they want you to push the "Roots Spirit" so much that you feel that you are not being realistic with your customers. In other words it's just sell! sell! sell! Aside from that there are many benefits from working at Roots such as store discounts and Roots bonus benefits for making your sales goal. Overall working at Roots is a great place and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to work in retail in a relaxed and comfortable environment. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
A relaxed diverse environment. I had a good working relationship with my manager and other senior staffs. It felt that it was easy to develop trust, and I was constantly learning which was enjoyable! It was a temporary contract but I had a wonderful time.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
 IT as everywhere else was a bit of a challenge until they knew the department  where I worked.

Roots is a relaxed diverse culture and they promote work life balance 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
My job is fast paced and I love it. The day could start with reviewing incoming emails reviewing and approving workflows to  more payroll focus things.

I absolutely love the roots family, since the first day I started back in November. No matter what, the staff is always friendly and is very flexible and reliable. A typical day includes approaching and greeting customers, folding clothes, finding items, organizing the store, and meeting the needs of customers. I've learned how to properly communicate, and how to handle situations. I also have learned how to keep a positive and enthusiastic attitude no matter what the situation may be. The hardest part is getting through the hours, and dealing with angry customers and finding items you don't know of. The most enjoyable part is getting to meet all different kinds of people from all different kinds of places. Management has always been wonderful and kind.

Roots is an excellent company to work for. The customer base is generally really positive, and if you like interacting with and helping people it's really great. The product is excellent quality and there is lots of support to learn product knowledge and how to sell to customers. The workplace culture is enjoyable. The job itself isn't incredibly demanding as long as you do your best then you can succeed. The main challenge is the opportunity to grow within the company - if you're employed at the right time and a position becomes available to move up then it's great but if nothing opens up then it can feel stagnant after a while.

I really enjoyed the work here. I liked working with customers and many of the staff. The manager was a complete turn off from working there though. One minute she loved you, the next minute she hated you and threatened your job.  You were not paid well for the amount of your you do. The manager expected you to spend your own time, not getting paid to complete training. She also would gossip with other employees about you in order to try and dig up anything you might be doing wrong. The manager even yelled at staff in front of customers. She is completely unprofessional.

If not for the manager I would love to have continued to work there.

Only perk probably just the discount you have

Bossy managers, micromanaging, talk down to people, creating rules on the spot then the managers don’t follow the rules they created, and if you point it out they change the rules again 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic working environment. Managers talk you down, making fun of people and coworkers

Just folding folding and folding while talking to customers and constantly get harassed by bossy managers

My review on Roots.
A typical day at Roots would include making sure all clothes are folded and store is clean, helping customers with their selections, and always greeting customers as they walk in and out. what I have learned from working at Roots is better communication skills and being more helpful to those around me. The work place culture is exciting and fun because the workers are always nice, and its always clean. The hardest part of being a sales associate at roots is keeping track of people stealing. The most enjoyable part of the job would be being able to have full conversations with the costumers and workers!

What is the best part of working at the company?
poor management but still, the work is extremely easy so if you like to be busy this place is not for you, Roots is only busy 3 to 4 months out of the year, and the pay is too low for those who have families.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Peoples attitude toward doing a good job and management not being organized.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
good culture music is always playing to ease the mind, when its not busy the head of health and safety supervisor gets everyone involved in fun games.
