I loved being apart of the health care industry. It gave me a sense of pride and self worth. I learned so much about patient care working as a Food Service Worker. Working as a team was amazing and I absolutely loved how so many people can work as one to provide excellent care and complete the necessary tasks at hand. The hardest part of the job was having to go home each day when I felt the need to stay and help others, whether it was a patient with no visitors or even the kitchen itself. I will always enjoy knowing that I made a difference in the lives and well being of others.

For your own sanity and health, do NOT accept a job here. High patient acuity coupled with an insensitive, poor management does not produce a good outcome. Nurses are expected to work unpaid overtime, work through breaks and work 12-hour shifts on top of it all.Each RN takes 5-7 high-acuity patients. The nursing model is primary nursing and there is ONE care aide for 35 patients - you will not be able to give essential care required and if you're any kind of a decent nurse, this alone will destroy you.
Benefits are good, but not worth giving your life for.

The work itself is what you would expect. Fun sometimes. Most of the frontline staff are great to work with and culture can vary. The higher you go up in the management  ladder, the more incompetent leadership becomes. People who have obviously never worked bedside and are only there to keep the numbers will make bizarre and sometimes dangerous decisions without actually consulting with bedside staff. I would never send friends or family here as patients or staff

Great team work. Management and team support. Well organized.

Always very busy. At times short of staff

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very supportive. Great opportunities for learning every day

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Always someting new to experience and learn. Very busy but the supportive team of nurses and doctors makes it bearable

Not used appropriately for our training, uncooperative and aggressive team members, poor support from management and the union.

Working in different areas is a plus, however, mostly as an equipment lackey.  Very prevalent blame culture for an inadequate clinical structure.

Alot of politics too many bosses and the best advice I can give is do your job and don't get involved. I've been  there for 20 years did my job and others if you have a strong personality u can servive,when u work in that environment .

this hospital is the a very busy hospital, that's why staff put their responsibility on top of other shoulders. there is neither education nor information updating. Promotion in this hospital is based on your connection not on your knowledge.The connection should be someone from high level of management.

It's fast paced and has strict protocols in place; which aren't necessarily efficient.  Everyone do their part and helpful toward new staff.  The ventilation system isn't the best at certain benches.

The job consisted of inventorying nursing stations and operating rooms in the morning, and delivering the previous days orders in the afternoon, you were left alone to get your job done, a really good and supportive staff and management team

RCH Perinatal is an acute and fast pace environment. Requires critical thinking and skills to implement a plan of care for mom and baby. It is a safe and joyful environment. Staff and management are exceptional when it comes to support and guidance
