The management at this company is downright chaotic. The owner (and only figure with authority in the company) is rarely seen at the company's trucking yard, and their management style that I've witnessed could best be described as threatening and intimidating with a smile. Typical work days are anywhere between 8 to 12 hours, 7:00AM to whatever time your crew has finished their daily tasks at their given work-sites, resulting in hours exceeding 'full-time' (44 hours/week), with no overtime pay. You'll more than likely be told at your interview that weekend-work is optional, but will then be pressured into coming in on Saturdays despite the 10 hour weekdays. The pay compared to many other landscaping companies is also sub-par, as you'll more than likely be paid $5/h less than you'd be making doing the same work at a different company, and furthermore, statutory holiday pay and/or days are will be waived if you are not past your probation, unlike any other company you'll find on this website. Lastly, this place has a rather dark history, and the culture resulting from the aforementioned management style defined by intimidation results in a toxic work culture, with cliques being formed amongst employees. Enjoying working here is a matter of luck with the crew you get, as well as how low you can drop your standards for dignified, safe, and fairly-paid work.

I will start out with this company has grown so much in the last few years, but all for the good !
Great place to work all teams leaders and members are polite , and productive . Always treating new members like family.
SB is a fast paced work environment when need to be, but overall a perfect place to learn new jobs and learn about the industry .

Usually a 9 to 10 hour day and working full force up to Winter and just like any other Landscape company getting ready for snow season keeps us all busy until it snows.
Bonus at SB, lots of hours if you are looking for hours but company owner will not judge if you are unable to put long hours in.
As long as jobs are getting completed.
Location is pretty good ..not too out of the way .,walking distance from bus route ,,,

Before the COVID pandemic we had a lot of fun company functions that the owner spared no limits great BBQs ,Landscape show event days for the whole day learning new ideas and products in our industry

Of course we all had those memories .. But I'm sure when its all safe to do theses things again, it will be even better . As we all now have an appreciation for those times we no longer get to enjoy.
Hardest part of working here will be getting to know everyone to who they all are . After that work is just as you need it to be friendly

SB haulage is a decent place to work, if you're looking to add landscaping or labouring to your resume. The pay is low, the hours are inconsistent, which is to be expected from a landscaping company during the summer, and the equipment isn't well maintained. It's the kind of place that hires students and people with no experience in the landscaping or lawn care maintenance industry. There are a few people that have been around for awhile, but most people stick around for a summer or a winter season just to get some experience under their belt. Working for SB Haulage is synonymous with going out for tappas on a Thursday night. You get to try the discount version of everything so that you know what you really want when you order at a different restaurant.

Generally Monday to Friday from April until November then you work when it snows, lots of great people, had a lot of fun. Get to learn lots of new skills.  Working outside is a nice experience. Higher than average wages, can work extra hours if you need the extra wages week to week. 

I only work here for a short period of time, during the summer/fall. I have to say it was great learning experience. Working outside is always great. Employees were friendly.

Keeps you busy, lots of people to interact with, team work, outdoor work. Learn new skills, most weekends off. Good pay with great raises and full benefits after 6 months.

very long hours, snow removal for long periods of time. overall good if you have no family life. great job over the summer. great for students. management is alright

As stated above, terrible equipment, terrible management & terrible communication, flexible with family issues, otherwise not a good deal or place to work at.
