SHOREWOOD PACKAGING

Shorewood used to be a great place to work but over the years and  ownership changes  it all changed for the worse.

Upper management has no respect for  employees including the shop floor management , treats them with disdain and disregard .. On the floor management is fine except their hands are tied by the obsessive compulsive  overbearing, non trusting approach of upper management.

 The pay is  good although I seen in their latest job placement ads they were advertising for employees at  a 33-45 %  reduction in hourly pay from the long term employees  , so I would think a change in pay scale is in the works.

 Layoffs are  frequent and  its not  done by seniority its done by who management likes better or  works  cheaper.

  Benefits are  excellent  I cant complain about them

All in all its a bit of give and take  if  you can put  up with the atmosphere and  management  style the benefits and possible  remuneration is there.

Upper management is obsessively  retentive in their management  style.   

 They  disrespect  all employees including lower  shop floor management  to the point of being oppressive.

  Its  a  working in the  1920's  type of atmosphere   so be ready  for that.   It used  to be a great place  to work but  through ownership changes  the management style  changed  from   respecting employees  to almost total disgust  towards  them.

  The  benefits are  good, and the pay is  good  but the latest  job postings are  for a  huge pay  cut  from the  $40 an hour they  currently pay pressmen. So  beware if  you apply here     the  company is in  flux    due  to the  mismanagement   currently  running the place.

Look at board to see what jobs are next,what stock is required,if ink are ready,plates are ready,if stock is available..Make sure all parts are ready to go,ink up press,set plates,set register and lock into automatic,get sign off from supervisor,run job,do all paper work,clean up parts and all aspects for job and remove from press..Very demanding,but also a GREAT challenge..Greatest part is the people I work with..Everyone is on the same page and work well as a team.

Very busy, receive updates from co workers and update projects status, projects review meeting, customization and issues review meeting. Mange project updates, identify any issues or contraints and resolve with user, write specifications, test any customizations, create training material, train users. Provide user support.

The days were very busy my job held lots of variety, busy when I came in till the time I left at the end of the day. I work with some great managers and sales staff. The hardest part of the job was trying to keep all customers happy. The most enjoyable part of the day was knowing I went home at the end of the day and my work was completed.

very hectic paced, made stressful decisions, worked long hours, learned things everyday, setting up gravure printing jobs, worked with customers, no day the same, my co-workers were excellent, my bosses were fabulous, the hardest time was troubleshooting when things were not workling,best part was figuring it all out, successful day, happy customers.

I spent over 14 years at Shorewood Packaging and the company declined drastically from the time I started until I left the job. Most of it was due to budgeting and corporate issues. Most of the staff on the floor were easy to get along with. I'm not even sure if they are aroungdanymore.

I worked there for almost 7 years. I had to leave because I went back to school due to the fact that I was getting laid off. I do not blame Shorewood for this because it had to do with the economy.

I loved working at Shorewood the people were like family to me, it was hard to leave. I left only because the feeling it would be closing and I was able to get another job.

Attention to detail and speed are an assett. I have been employed by the Shorewood Packaging Corp. for 6 years. Through this time I perfected my skills within the workplace. Team environment skills.
